“Innovation” needs to be heard as someone invoking “Abracadabra” and treated accordingly or we’re going to lose a war badly.

'liberals will just roll over and die because their principles say that they have to surrender.' hey why are they rolling that big cigar cutter out in front of the white house
I think fundamentally the problem with post liberal thinkers is that they seem to assume that vanquishing liberalism results in their enemies being converted or defeated and not becoming radicalized into enemies who no longer extend the mercies they once did.

Josef and Magda Goebbels feeding cyanide to their children is a triumph of liberal democracy. This is what fascists should always know that they are signing up for: If you don’t intend to leave power peacefully, you will leave it in a box.

the other thing i’ll say here is i am a bit frustrated with the narrative of online radicalization that treats it as akin to brainwashing. it lets individuals, families and communities off the hook for the choices they make and the environments they foster
this also drives me insane, this idea that it is the most normal thing in the world for a young (white) man to have a nazi curious phase. it isn’t!

I want to congratulate leading Democrats’ for their insistence on saying the takeover of DC is a “stunt” or a “distraction.”

It’s a rare trifecta of intellectual failure, political stupidity, and moral obtuseness.

Anduril and its fellow travelers are not interested in winning any future war, they're interested in duping the DoD into honest-to-God forever wars with moderate-to-high attrition rates to milk the Pentagon for money and then telling them "welp that's just Next-Gen Warfare gib moar monies pl0x"

This is a far too complex topic to really hash out in even a skeet thread, I'm tempted to write a dreaded Blog Post about it. I think SpX has laundered earnest testing failure value into an entire ethos of "blowing up is good", it stops being fine after a certain point, esp for full scale prototype
ok I feel completely insane asking this but like

weren't we NOT blowing up rockets, like, 50 years ago. weren't we successfully sending rockets up that did not rattle apart. also weren't we like "ah yeah that was a fail" when the rocket fell apart instead of calling it a "partial success"

It seems quite possible that a woman who obviously values and connects with children just doesn’t approve of their being shot, bombed, and starved
I'm embarrassed for the New York Times that they published this piece on Ms. Rachel, in which they cite a ridiculous anonymous righwing website Stopantisemitism while indulging the mad, mad claim she may be funded by Hamas (!).

This isn't journalism:

all of the talk of “reshoring (low end) manufacturing” and “bringing back the american worker” is a smokescreen for a plan to impoverish as many americans by forcing as many of them as possible into backbreaking, low wage labor. it’s discipline for an unruly populace.

the other part of this is it makes them particular vulnerable to open defiance
Elon Musk, Ed Martin, etc., have to make examples of people because their actual reach is so limited. All the data mining and LLMs in the world can't make up for one FBI agent per 30,000 people.

A big problem with American politics is that a third generation hvac company owner is seen as more working class than a teacher’s aide
a lot of people genuinely think you have to do blue collar work to be considered part of the working class as opposed to like, being a wage-worker
"relies on taxpayer funding to sustain itself" meaning "fake" is a very Randian take for someone who claims to be a leftist!

They are all too dumb to understand this.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: an administration (and its supporters) who believe that they are not limited by the rule of law have no moral or philosophical claim to the protection of the rule of law. “The law is whatever we say it is” warrants the same in response.

Musk is obviously a greedy man, but he does not have $470 billion, or even $10 bln in a bank account. This is not cash. His actions are to both seek power, which people understand... and to preserve his paper wealth, a thing that is less tangible and more susceptible to disappear than people realize

The birthright citizenship portion of the US Constitution is totally, inarguably unambiguous. No wiggle room. If the supreme court agrees to throw it out they are explicitly throwing out the entire document and our entire system of government.
