Lab’s 1st preprint!

Menstruation is understudied due to societal taboos + a biological challenge: mice (a key system for research + drug discovery) don’t menstruate.

@cagricevrim.bsky.social made menstruating mice + used them to discover early events in menstruation.

He is on the job market!

I’m taking over as the menswear guy. Men should rotate through the same four band t-shirts for 35 years. Replace the shirts with identical shirts if the holes in them get big or you get too fat for them

How is this not an @theonion.com article?
California’s right-to-know law, which requires companies to warn people about harmful chemicals in their products, has swayed many companies to stop using those chemicals altogether, a new study found.
California’s Scary Product Warning Labels Might Be Working, Study Says
Products must state if they contain chemicals tied to cancer or other risks. As a result, manufacturers have pulled back from using the chemicals, researchers found.

Reminder that @europepmc.org is a mirror of Pubmed with better search and that it indexes *all* bioRxiv preprints (as well as ResearchSquare), not just the ones funded by NIH like chauvinist Pubmed
I’m very scared to see what happens to PubMed

#ScientistsWithTattoos was a trend from years ago on twitter, in response to an insane take that ”tattoos look unprofessional in science and people will not respect you if you have them” so here is my Nerdy evolution tattoo. @phdforum.bsky.social

My one take away from writing my dissertation is, man you guys need to start reading papers before you cite them, don’t just cite because someone cited the way that it was cited by another citation. This is how myths start, and they are so annoying to untangle. Please and thank you.

Why do so many feel like they've fallen behind?

It's not because of immigrants, trans people, the “deep state,” or any other bogeyman trotted out by the GOP.

It's because big corporations and billionaires have rigged markets and siphoned off most of the economy's gains

Understanding the origin of eukaryotic cells is one of the biggest puzzles in biology 🧩 As genomic data expand, painting a clear picture of LECA requires analytical resources and a commitment to data sharing. This paper led by T. R. emphasizes a community-driven approach to tackle this complexity.
