The destruction of the federal government disproportionately affects black women. The federal civil service has long been a good career option because of the strong equal opportunity enforced in the civil service that has historically blunted the double discrimination that black women face.
Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.

This is the way. I do almost everything myself and the lists start with tasks starting on Monday, to serve dinner at 6pm on Thursday. I’m excited because this year I have a countertop oven, which should somewhat relieve the elaborate ballet of the oven on Thanksgiving Day.
Make a spreadsheet. List cooking times (and resting for protein), device (oven, crock pot, stove top, smoker, grill, etc) and temperatures. Work backwards from when dinner is ready. Project manage this fucker.
most people just aren’t going to magically know how to juggle all those dishes just because it’s a holiday. there’s no shame in doing a couple of things really well

Scrolling, I momentarily thought this was another Olivia Nuzzi quote about RFK.

I'm getting increasingly optimistic that we can deter or defeat a coup, even if Trump is still alive and conscious in 2026 and 2028 — although I'm still terrified that there's not enough contingency planning among Democrats.

But what comes after? The scope of massive reforms needed? Not so much.

Well that would explain why it’s peppered with bad translations.
Republican Senator Mike Rounds said Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a call to senators, confirmed the so-called 28-point “peace plan” was actually a Russian wishlist and is “not the administration’s position”. Nor is there any threat to cut off weapons or intelligence to Ukraine.

It remains hilarious to me that Ryan Lizza is seemingly oblivious to the fact that he, too, was just a creepy older man taking advantage of Olivia Nuzzi

As someone who nearly died in childbirth, despite excellent health and the medical care of a highly developed country (not the US), my anger at forced-birthers is matched only by that at "free birthers," who bully women into believing it's a status symbol to give birth without medical help.
At St James’ Church at Cooling in Kent are still to be seen the 13 children’s graves surrounding that of their parents that inspired Dickens to write the opening chapter of Great Expectations.

I guess even the folk memory of the huge mortality of childbirth and early life is now disappearing.

I hope this is right. I feel like the mood is different than it was a few months ago. I don’t think we are out of the woods yet, but I also think our chances of making it through to the other side are much higher. The midterms remain critical but I am less pessimistic about the outcome.
I *think* the attempt to speedrun authoritarianism has failed. The new acute danger is greater political violence (Trump calling for hangings, etc). But the concerted danger is down the line, when MAGA realizes the bill for all this corruption will come due. www.offmessage.net/p/maga-disar...

It’s just more grift—Part One of Lizza/Nuzzi saga was free to tease you in with a salacious train wreck but Part Two is “paying subscribers only”. Gotta monetize that scandal! All the worst people.
Part Two is really the ultimate in “Well I don’t know what I was expecting” but I definitely want to read the RFK poems that are too explicit to publish.

The clips are amazing comedy gold
hahahahaha I knew it. "I feel very confident that he can do a very good job. I think he's gonna surprise some conservative people, actually. And some very liberal people he won't surprise because they already like him."
Trump in a room with a very charismatic person results in like half a day of Trump agreeing with everything that person said, so this has the potential to be very, very funny.

There is synergy between RFK and Musk in their butcher’s bill.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.
