I know it's a tad early but I know those bitches with the buckets will be out soon. Don't gove them a penny. The volunteers may not know but the salvation army is no ally and actively combative and harmful to many queer minorities especially during the holiday season

Yes, I know I feel much better when I do all of my "take care of myself" tasks, but have you considered: that's a lot of work and I'm very tired?

Here’s a crop of Stephan’s Quintet taken from my yard with an 8” SCT. While these make up a visual cluster, the blue galaxy, NCG 7320, is closer to us at about 40 million ly from Earth. The other galaxies are gravitationally bound & are a whopping 300 million ly away. 🔭 #Astrophotography

Stuck on "I can't believe Larry Summers, the man who has been making headlines for sexist commentary for the past 20 years, also sexually harasses women." The entire history of sexism is just telling reasonable observers that it's insane and hysterical to infer that 2 + 2 equals 4.

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

something i’ve noticed recently is that rightwingers have been ramping up trying to make furries a new front in their social culture war and i’m not sure that’s going to work especially because it’s purely a social hobby

It is genuinely incredible to me how much evidence there is to support investing in the public good and how much animus there is to do this simple, effective thing.

Today is my birthday. I would like many things but from you specifically I want $2,500 for @scarleteen.com's annual fundraiser, which is supporting staff & volunteer healthcare this year. We need $2,500 to unlock a $10,000 match and this would really make my day! Donate to my campaign page here.

In a lot of cases, clinical trials might be the only way for a child to survive a fatal childhood disease, or keep someone from dying from a form of cancer that doesn’t have any other options, etc. We tend to think of “trials” as novel experiments, but they’re often much more than that.

throughout this decade-long war of attrition against sesta, fosta, osa, etc. moral panic over sex work has been manufactured as cover for risk-management, more or less, for investment firms. the issue is ideological, but not in the obvious way; an open internet can't be totally financialized
The truth is, way too many journalists & content creators sat there and said nothing when SESTA-FOSTA passed, when OSA passed, when OF nearly lost porn due to paypros, even during this summer’s Collective Shout situation. A slow apocalypse for the free and open internet has been unfolding for years

Hi @ktla.com, I broke this story for @lataco.bsky.social yesterday. We were the first news outlet to publish the surveillance footage and report that Rodriguez is a federal agent. Disappointing to not see a "first reported by" credit or link to our website in your story. Do better.

Every day I feel hyperaware we are living in an even more blatant dual state

The dual state describes a society divided into a normal state, which operates according to set rules & laws, & a “prerogative state”, "which exercises unlimited arbitrariness & violence unchecked by any legal guarantees”
