All of this thread.

We cannot turn whole universities into AI development centers. This is a commercial and political obsession, not education or skill-development.
It's hard to overstate how impossible this demand is from Purdue's administration to implement these AI requirements by next fall. We are nowhere close to understanding what AI proficiency means or what it looks like in education.

"the very programs best equipped to study the social and ethical implications of AI were being defunded, even as the university promoted the use of OpenAI’s products across campus. This isn’t innovation—it’s institutional auto-cannibalism."

AI is Destroying the University and Learning Itself
Students use AI to write papers, professors use AI to grade them, degrees become meaningless, and tech companies make fortunes. Welcome to the death of higher education.

I mean we are absolutely in a place now where the only solution to this information disorder is for everyone to constantly evaluate the source of information. Never trust a chatbot, but also don't believe a video unless you know and trust where it comes from.

Unfortunately... that's a lot of work.

So much of the backlash against what people call "cancel culture" just flat out ignores this idea. No one ever said redemption was impossible or that one would be defined forever by their worst actions but forgiveness is not automatic, redemption is not earned by patience alone.
I live in the hope that redemption isn’t out of reach for anyone but it is not my job to get anyone there nor would I suggest that it be anyone else’s

I’m just thinking of this because I’m watching football while not paying anybody a penny: Do Americans know that you can (still!) watch HD digital broadcasts of all the major networks over the air, for free, complete with programming guide data, just by hooking up an antenna to your TV?

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

Elon Musk donated $277 million to Trump so he could steal the federal government’s data, dismantle the nation’s infrastructure, and stop foreign aid from going to nonwhite people. It’s a quid pro quo breathtaking in scope, corruption, and damage, & completely unprecedented in American history.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

Them: “I’m sick of subsidizing their groceries when mine cost so much”

SNAP does not drive up grocery prices.

That would be inflation, tariffs & corporate greed.

For every $1 spent on SNAP there’s a $1.50 going back into the economy.

While you’re blaming the poor, the rich are robbing everyone.

the biggest lesson from the emails today is that powerful people are so unafraid of consequences for crimes as bad as “raping children” that they will just talk about it openly in emails

the only path to a better society is one where that is no longer true

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

We are not wrong to hope. Our elected officials are wrong to decide that some people don't deserve food, clothing, shelter, health care, or education.

MOCK THEM WITHOUT SHARING.

This creates what an enthymeme, where readers have to SUPPLY PART OF THE REFERENT to understand what you are mocking. An enthymeme is the STRONGEST form of persuasion.

This is what all teaching is supposed to be, foundationally
Media literacy should be taught in every single American school, full stop. You don't need to tell kids *what* to think, but teaching them *how* to think is now a civic duty.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
