Lightspeed Spanish is excellent. Lots of free u tube videos and you can also pay for more
Does anyone have any decent recommendations for an app that'll help me learn Spanish?

There are so many out there.

Excellent interview
We must not be bystanders to genocide. A UN commission has proved that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza and now the Genocide Convention compels us to take action.

Time to retire!
I had a dream last night in which i and several of the other male 59/60/61 year old consultants at my hospital wandering around on a local river bank in work clothes individually contemplating our futures/retirement dates and careers to date in low grade existential angst

What could it all mean?

And also, why isn’t it either “station” or “stop”?
Might start a petition to make the quiet carriage on a train also quiet from long monologues over the tannoy on what's on offer in the onboard shop, upselling ticket upgrades & the fact the train is delayed enough for delay repay (which is inevitable on an Avanti service) after every station stop 🙃

“Tabloids tell us Connolly is lovely, ordinary, caring, a great Mum. But she wasn’t punished for any of that. She was punished for telling a mob it's okay to set fire to hotels full of people she sees as lesser. That she did it between a cuppa and walking the dog, makes it more chilling, not less.”

🚨An important reminder of the trauma faced by asylum seekers.

Not just in fleeing persecution abroad.

Not just in the perilous and desperate journey to these shores.

But by the hatred and vitriol put on them by the right wing in this country for callous political gain.

Tony Blair & business leaders miss the point

Healthcare is personal, reactive, relies on nuance, often the unsaid things, a look down, a ‘hmm’, a tear, leading a Nurse or Doctor to a diagnosis beyond the presenting symptoms

Healthcare is not a product, it’s an art, with artists dealing with people
"You should have AI nurses, AI doctors," says Tony Blair & he could not be more wrong.

This is exactly the kind of gushing, uncritical AI hype that has already squandered ££millions of NHS funds on the likes of Babylon (Hancock's fave - soon went bankrupt) &, I kid you not, NHS penguin robots. 1/3

What a speech.
So, for those killed and those whose voices are silenced: what more evidence do you need?

Will you act now – decisively – to prevent genocide in Gaza and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law?

This Council must prevail. Demand this ends.

On the basis that I’m really enjoying your latest “The proof of my innocence “, I’ve just downloaded “Fundamentally”!
Since I'm always going on about how the Amazon Top 100 is full of books that aren't really books, I'm taking a moment to celebrate the fact that Fundamentally by Nussaibah Younis has made it there. Amazing, given that it's:
1) a debut novel
2) a serious novel
3) an extremely funny serious novel

It’s a wonderful book - I read it in one sitting!
2/2 And Gail, the character who looms large in this short novel, is wonderfully laconic and bristly, the family dynamic so superbly revealed, with its push-me-pull-you yearning for both connection and detachment. Just relishable. Thank God for the balm of good writing.
