2025 was tough. But 2026 is going to be a year of ambition and solidarity.

Our plan? Laser-focused, stripped back, costed, reformed, efficient – a plan to save 87m lives in 2026.

Let’s go.

Important 2bn USD contribution to humanitarian action from US.

Vote of trust in Humanitarian Reset: faster, leaner, prioritised, and closer to people on front lines of emergencies.

We are setting out to save 87m lives in 2026.

Just announced $2 billion US contribution in support of our plan to save 87m lives in 2026.

Thank you to President Trump, Sec. Rubio and Jeremy Lewin for powerful vote of confidence in Humanitarian Reset: neutral, efficient, lean, locally led humanitarian action. Let’s deliver.

I’ve allocated $1M from UN Central Emergency Respond Fund to respond to a fast-spreading diphtheria outbreak in #Mali.

With rising cases, limited health access and vaccine shortages, this funding will support life-saving care in Mopti, Ségou & Tombouctou – where needs are highest.
December 28, 2025 at 1:22 PM
Another grim milestone in #DRCongo: violence has pushed half a million people from their homes, many into Burundi.

I’ve allocated $13.5M from UNCERF – $10M for DRC, $3.5M for #Burundi – to deliver urgent, life-saving aid where needs are exploding.

Türkiye’s humanitarian expertise – from emergency response to refugee protection – is on frontline of humanitarian mission.

Thank you to Turkish Red Crescent.

Another strong exchange with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Türkiye is a pivotal mediator across the region and beyond.

We also discussed our plans to save 87m lives in 2026.

Allocating $100 million from UN Central Emergency Respond Fund to underfunded emergencies around the world.

This funding will help support the most vulnerable, and deliver life-saving aid fast where needs are greatest.

The mission is right and the movement is out there. But as we reimagine humanitarianism, I need to hear your ideas.

So here is a 🔊Listening Channel: a space for debate, creativity, challenge.

Crises and conflicts are on the rise, but funding for humanitarian aid is dwindling: a major challenge for the #ODSG, currently under German chairmanship. Together with 29 other donors, we are working with @unocha.org to make the humanitarian system more effective and resilient. 1/2

This winter in #Afghanistan, hunger is soaring. Food aid has collapsed. Clinics are closing. 1.1 million children are missing life-saving nutrition.

We need restrictions on women humanitarians lifted immediately and the funding to do our work.

Candid discussions with our @unocha.org supporters on how we respond together to tough funding climate.

Thank you for your support and trust. We reform with vigour, regroup with confidence, renew with imagination.

The world’s emergency fund is 20. Today was a moment of pride, a mission for 2026, and a challenge for the next 20 years.

A fully funded $1B UNCERF is not symbolic. It’s a lifeline. And it’s needed now.

Launching 2026 plan to save 87m lives with US$23bn.

Delivered with ruthless prioritisation and efficiency.

We need moral ambition.

Will governments show up? This will define who lives and who falls through cracks.

Back us. Hold us to account.

Flying visit to DC to meet US Government, humanitarian partners and media on DRC, Sudan, Gaza, Ukraine, reform. Must build on this period of intense US peacemaking.

Miles of rubble and deep trauma in Gaza, even as lifesaving aid has been moving again in recent weeks after months of blockages.

We must continue the progress, and scale up further in the face of massive needs.

My interview with @jimsciutto.bsky.social on @cnn.com from DC.

Devastating flooding in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand & Malaysia – over a thousand reported deaths, millions affected.

Solidarity with everyone hit by this disaster.

HUMANIFESTO – EDITION 24
Geneva, 26 November 2025 I last wrote en route to Sudan. This was one of the toughest missions I’ve done yet, and included a week in Darfur as we sought to respond to the horrors of El Fasher.
