Online GP Forms 8–6.30pm

A more convenient way to find out there aren’t enough appts in GP practices & aren’t enough GPs

Not enough £ to provide the services everyone will expect because of this continued messaging.

Not possible to do more with less.

Put your money where your mouth is, Wes!

General Practice is being short changed by NHS England

Payments to GP practices average £169 / patient / year for all the services they provide ~ average 6-7 appts / year

A&E get £113 minimum per attendee
Out patients £152 minimum for seeing a professional on first attendance

A relatively mild flu season follows warnings from NHS England, NHS Providers & Wes Streeting of ‘super flu’ ‘tidal waves’ ‘double whammy’ ‘worst ever crisis’

1.9million attendances at A&E over 5years for ‘minor’ things

Just 65 more GPs employed could have delivered 1.9million appointments over 5years and covered this ‘huge’ number of A&E ‘extra’ attendances

Imagine what 6000 more GPs could have done if 2019 Tory commitment had been met ~ 180million

Funded by Local Authorities rather than NHS leading to more cuts & fragmentation.

Children are being neglected.

Let’s hope Wes Streeting will put money where his mouth is.

OVERWHELMED GP PRACTICES NOT TO BLAME FOR A&E WAITS

Not the headline you will read but GPs are not to blame

190,000 a day additional GP practice appointments compared to 2019

Emergency Departments have seen a rise of 3000 attendances a day, whilst admissions remain unchanged

This is a story about patient needs

1.9 million over 5 years

1.4% of A&E attendees - the patients believed they needed urgent care

Over the same period GP practices did 1.9 billion consultations

And people turned up to their GPs with chest pain, broken bones, sepsis, etc

Both need funding

I dug behind the industry paywall to find out, what *are* the geniusly clever things that AI can predict will increase NHS A&E pressures?

You’ll never guess

- Flu
- Winter
- Icy weather
- Friday nights
- Christmas
- New Years Eve

Jeez, Dom’s old mates at Faculty AI (o yes) really saw Wes coming

Let’s go back to 2010!

We didn’t need cancer pathways as urgent referrals were seen in 2-3 weeks, routine in 2-3 months

Recruitment was rising, jobs were good. It wasn’t perfect but in 4 decades of NHS work it was the best it had been

THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED ….

Another Winter (year) of people treated on hospital corridors

Another New Years honours list for failure

5000 extra permanent core hospital beds promised in Jan 2023, ‘delivered’ in Winter 23/24, but absolutely no evidence of their existence

Thanks Dame Pritchard

2026 could be the year to ‘Bring back the family Doctor’ Wes Streeting

To do so will require a patient centred GP contract with the vision & resources to genuinely bring quality, safe, focused care

This is in the hands of Govt, DHSC, NHSEngland
