Cold hands and warm hearts. It was canvass and coffee time in Balham this morning. Starting as we mean to go on, ahead of the May local elections.

Brilliant to have a warm response on the doorstep in this chilly weather!

Wishing everyone a lovely New Year’s Eve. We’re having a chilled night indoors with family and friends before we go out for the fireworks. I’m currently losing at all the games!

However you’re celebrating, here’s to a happy, healthy year ahead!

With Christmas Day just hours away, I know the excitement will be building for many. But for some, this time of year is challenging. Make sure to check in on your neighbours and people you know to see how they’re doing.

Working today on a very busy shift at St George's A&E. This Christmas and New Years there will be many NHS staff, doctors, nurses, porters and others, working tirelessly to save lives.

What a busy year! As 2025 draws to a close, take a look at my Wrapped for the year!

It was fantastic to join the Tooting Run Club for their festive Christmas event! So much energy and community spirit. Events like these highlight the best of Tooting – bringing people together and keeping us active.

My heart goes out to all those affected by the horrific events in Bondi. Today, I signed the book of condolence at Australia House along with my daughters, standing in solidarity with the victims, their families, and standing against vile hatred and antisemitism.

Earlier this year, I worked with legislators across the world to produce a report on the interplay between non-communicable disease and mental health. I am proud that following all our hard work and campaigning the UN General Assembly has backed our calls and passed a resolution.

After years of campaigning, the UK is set to rejoin Erasmus from January 2027, reopening opportunities not just for university students, but for apprentices, schools, adult learners, and communities across the country. A hopeful day, and a hard-won one.

Huge congratulations to @andrea4gs.bsky.social on becoming the new General Secretary of UNISON! Her leadership will be vital in defending workers' rights and a stronger NHS. I look forward to working with her in the coming months and years.

Great to visit Little Village & see the incredible work they do for families. They urgently need donations of toothpaste/brushes, sanitary pads, 0-6 month sleeping bags, and toddler bed sheets. Please drop donations at their hub on Tooting High Street.

Fantastic news that the UK is rejoining Erasmus, opening opportunities for students up and down the country.

The Tory Brexit deal shut doors for young people - this Labour Gov't is fixing their mess and rebuilding our relationship with our allies.

Privileged to speak at the Trauma2030 conference and receiving an award too is a tremendous honour. As an A&E doctor, I’ve seen firsthand the toll trauma takes. We must work together to ensure every patient receives the best care.

I have today raised the case of the Palestine Action hunger strikers in Parliament, asking David Lammy, the Justice Secretary, to provide an update on their condition.

Every healthcare worker wants the best for those in their care, yet many years of underfunding have left patients being treated in corridors.

It is undignified and, most of all, unsafe.

Today, I pushed the Health Secretary to work with @appgemergencycare.bsky.social to end corridor care.

With rising flu cases, our NHS is under immense pressure. Local pharmacies can offer immunisations to protect you and your family. Let's all do our part to ease pressure on our hospitals this winter. Our NHS will always be there to help you.

On what should be a day of joy and light for Jewish communities around the world, I am appalled by the scenes from Bondi today.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the families affected.

In the run up to Christmas it’s more important than ever to support the independent businesses that make Tooting special. When you shop local, you’re backing our community.

Patients being treated in corridors and in ambulances has become common place. These are people waiting for vital care.

As Chair of @appgemergencycare.bsky.social, I implore leaders to follow recommendations of our report to ensure every patient is treated with dignity.

Wonderful visiting Ronald McDonald House at St George's Hospital today!

The team works incredibly hard to support families of critially ill children during their time in hospital.
