Chatted to my great uncle yesterday – a northern, working-class guy, not that political. I told him my job involved exposing Farage.

His first question was: “who funds him?”

Investigations into Farage’s donors can have a major impact on Reform’s support – as this research has already shown 👇

Here's a simple happiness hack:

Do something for someone that is truly altruistic. Do it in secret if you can, and take no credit, if you can manage that in a world that sees everything.

Do this as often as your circumstances allow, which may be once a year or once a day.

Try it and see.

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

We're keen to challenge the predicate to the case brought by the (revoltingly homophobic) Christian Institute: that upholding the rights of those protected by the Equality Act is a contestable and political stance. So, thanks, I guess to them.
Supporting LGBT+ rights is political in a way that breaches the civil service code and opposing them is not political in a way that precludes charitable status is a... complex position to hold, although one managed by former LGBA hate group with charitable status trustee Kathleen Stock.

millions of college kids have half assed an assignment at the last minute, you eat the F and move on

but the effort to push trans people out of public life will use whatever it can get

It never ceases to blow my mind that so many tech, sci-fi, futurism backers ended up swinging so far right. Did they entirely miss the point of the sci-fi novels? That identity, self, personal exploration is something we can nurture and grow? It's like instead they said, "no we like the dystopia."

A teaching assistant gives an intentionally bad paper the grade it deserved, and gets "removed".

You can't make these people happy. Society should stop trying.

Galaxy Quest - a perfect movie, just a wonderful love letter to actors, sci-fi, Star Trek in particular, and to fandom - really deserves a proper physical release with decent extras. Think Weaver's right that releasing a R-rated cut would be fun, too.

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.
