I am legitimately frightened about what might happen the next time I publish a trans book for kids. I'm thinking I might just open up a pen name and start writing hardcore transgressive kink fic wrapped in a commercial sci-fi layer, since that's what they seem to be willing to leave to us.

What I really hope is that someone with real musical stature is recording the ultimate diss track to drop as soon as it's confirmed that It has indeed Happened. Just as soon as he's dead, an all-new single that rockets up the charts, just the most visible cultural FUCK YOU that can't be erased.

I know we're not supposed to judge people by their appearances, but this guy's dead-eyed smile is the sort of thing you'd see on a dystopian news broadcast in a Verhoeven movie as a way to show that the people are helpless against obvious villains.

Hey kitty update!
Lizard is a MILLION times better and we are looking at taking him back home tomorrow. He's eating, he's producing a normal amount of urine, the fluid around his lungs is slowly improving now that he's off the IV, AND they've been able to lower his pain medication!

Yes. How else can they enforce their content rules if not with surveillance? And how else can they 'drive shareholder value' except by automating that surveillance? And then people will game the automation, and we'll be back to square one but with zero privacy this time. Who will that protect?

Yes, I see that in my own life, too. I've been at the ragged edge too frequently for me to accept the expansive "everything *must* be subversive or confrontational or radical" attitude of Certain People. I cannot discount the value of the sure thing, of not alienating people for kicks and giggles.
