so, folks - I realize I haven’t actually discussed the publication of this book right here … I’m going to be honest, it snuck up on me. I’m … really busy! I plead busy.

I’ll talk about it a bit since, you know, that’s what promotion is all about!

filling in some holes here - when was the last time *you* listened to the first Teenage Fanclub album? shambling and loose, feels like 1990 - the last moment in time for college rock, as we called it on this side of the Atlantic, before the sounds split up into different camps.

just watched the Women’s Free Skate - my goodness, the program started with a heartbreaking fall, but the Japanese skater, Sakamoto - that was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. gorgeous. tight like a drum. Sakamoto came to chew bullets.

Age verification? You tell your mother she’s a lovely woman and I enjoyed our time together. Tell her I’ll be in town soon, if she still likes salsa dancing.
Age verification? I got to see Superman the Movie in the theater for free because a poem I wrote about the planet Krypton won a contest they held at Kaufmann's department store in downtown Pittsburgh.
Age verification? The definitive pop star, the performance and musical standard against which I subconsciously judge all others, is a guy with a stripe painted on his nose dressed as an 18th century bandit yelling “fa-diddly-qua-qua”

UPDATE: I couldn’t get him invested in Johnny Weir time. I tried to explain, this is only every four years, and he pointed out “there’s figure skating every year and you don’t watch any of that. what makes this different?” and I screamed back I DON’T KNOW BUT IT IS.
me, watching the figure skating and trying to get the cat excited for the commentators: IS IT JOHNNY WEIR TIME??? IS IT JOHNNY WEIR TIME???

The reason Josie and I are tagged in this is because Josie wrote the foreword and I wrote the afterword -- which if you don't know Tegan's writing (you really should) should tell you what sort of ballpark they're in as a writer.
