My boomer coworker complained endlessly about no one wanting to work as state unemployment levels hovered around 2.0% because service at the restaurants was slower because everyone with an option got the fuck out of the service industry.

So much of the dipshit punditry and left-to-right pipeline can be understood as people mistaking being a contrarian as being an intellectual. It's people who found out they could feel special by going against the grain when they were 14 and didn't grow out of that shallow sophistry in their 20s.
