It’s anecdotal of course - so not exactly a scientific study, but it is interesting that over the years the only people who have ever angrily asked why I would care about what was happening in their country have been Americans.
People from other counties see it as a good thing I’d care about them.

Woke up feeling very worn down. The “Christmas Crazy”, which often hits as soon as Advent begins, has stayed away until now. I would have just had a “work from home” day but I had the Christmas Eucharist at a retirement homes and I couldn’t disappoint them.

YES. I wanted -- NEEDED -- parents who could love me unconditionally. Parents who were more committed to their kids than to their own demons. I just couldn't be the emotional punching bag anymore. I did. not. want to give up but eventually I realized that to be a good parent myself, I had no choice.

Sometimes going no contact isn't even a decision. It's looking at the ringing phone and realizing you don't have the strength.
