Saw this little guy in Paris years ago and I still think about him all the time. He understands.
AIDS treatments came too late for my friend and mentor Stephen and his partner Edward. Very choked up to read this. Thank you, science.
Just because good news is worth celebrating:

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

I know the idea is to cast on a new project during the opening ceremonies and finish it before the closing ones, but I started a day early (shh). There's a fierce setup row and I don't want to need the Cone of Silence to count stitches during a party. (Area Knitter Does Not Enjoy Setup Rows.)

In a long-established tradition, I am headed out with the Drunken Knitters (who all seem to drink considerably less or not at all these days, we're getting old) to knit along with the rebroadcast of the Olympic opening ceremonies this evening.

I have finished the black tweed fingering weight pullover that I started less than a month ago. I have now cast on for a Quesnel coat, in the Arranmore Light yarn that the pattern calls for. (I'm even doing it in red.) Knitting is one of the very few things I'm accomplishing these days.

Zero accountability for anyone in positions of power for anything ranging from child sex trafficking to fascist murder is not just an erosion. It’s a full collapse of certain parts of the Public’s trust in anything and that is going to have massive affects in the near future and far into the future
can't help but think there is probably a corrosive effect of having sex trafficker-elite emails unveiled for months on end as one of the biggest cultural/news stories of the last year— unearthing an inexcusable moral rot in the upper echelons of power—but without any real accountability/justice

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

You’ll never guess but the solution to people not having money is to give them money.
"By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed."

A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends.

Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.

This is the energy of every woman who has been stalked or doxxed by an ex for daring to exist.

Is it surprising that it's the federal govt?

Yes. But that's what happens when you let 4chan run the govt

So much of what's happening goes straight back to G*mergate. Even entertaining the "ethics in gaming journalism" canard emboldened the hateful assholes to destroy lives, and they organized on Reddit and 4chan, and now the worst of them are using the power of the state to disappear and murder people.
I've been thinking about this a lot and this is gamergate energy.
Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

Neil Gaiman should never be readmitted to polite society. A man with that much money and power, actively putting up a smokescreen of progressivism to conceal his predation, can never be trusted.

Having tracked hate networks for years in the fediverse, I can affirm for a fact all of this is true.

There is a specific targeted campaign against Black folks specifically that is often dismiss as 'trolling.'

And the fingerprints are everywhere if you know where to look.

It's *ugly* ugly.
After what I've learned today, it's not an exaggeration for me to say that I've been personally harassed by 4channers for over a decade now, across multiple platforms

& that it was all part of a larger RW psyop funded by eugenic white supremacist pedophiles & I'm not exaggerating even a little bit
Considering that 4chan's /pol/ board was the originating website of the #EndFathersDay hoax that directly led to #YourSlipIsShowing

& that /pol/ was started because of an email between the site's founder and Jeffery Epstein

This means that Epstein has a direct effect on my life & Shafiqah's life.

This is NOT a blaming statement. It's a request for reflection.

Consider if you were one of the folks who told others that "Abolish ICE" was an extremist position five to 8 years ago, and that the people who called to Abolish ICE are the same trying to warn about other impending catastrophes.

No, we are not all immigrants. Many of us are settler colonists. Immigration happens within the established legal framework of an existing state. Colonization requires pushing the locals out of the way and destroying their institutions and way of life. Not the same at all.
We are all immigrants. Unless you came over on the Mayflower. I am an immigrant to Canada having grown up in the US. America was built by immigrants. Some people have forgotten that.

If your call to action only centers on the murder of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, we're gonna fight.

Abolish the police. Abolish ICE. No one is illegal. No one deserves to be murdered by law enforcement.

Please recognize the repeated choices that brought us here, grounded in racism.
