"What made you leave your career in publishing?"

Spoiler Alert / tldr: I didn't, technically — although it depends on how you define the industry — but I sometimes think the book side never really considered me part of the industry to begin with.

Why did I leave the publishing industry? (aka My Villain Origin Story) | As in guillotine...
Even if you define publishing solely through the lens of books, I’d argue I haven’t left, I’m just in a different part of the supply chain now.

Writers who are against using AI tools for writing but think they're fine for marketing are hypocrites. FOH.

2025 was a mess in many ways, but I'm lucky to be able to say the day job was one of a few bright spots.

Comics + equitable access + librarians and publishers who get it? 🤌

#ReadAllTheComics
In 2025, readers in 3,500+ libraries and schools checked out more than 2 million graphic novels, manga, and picture books!

We're thankful for every librarian, educator, and library-friendly publisher who has supported our mission to help readers #ReadAllTheComics!

Comics Plus will return in 2026.

Check it out! #ReadAllTheComics

PS: Apologies for the lack of alt text in these. We're going to rectify that in 2026.
Our team at LibraryPass loves to bring comics and manga to a library near you. We also love to read them too!

Guy LeCharles Gonzalez, Chief Content Officer & Chief Marketing Officer, shared his top 3 picks for favorite manga available on Comics Plus.

Just saw this was getting ratiod hard, deservedly, and I feel bad for whoever's running social for PW that had to post the pathetic damage control follow-up.

Couldn't be a worst time to trash their credibility like this, and for what? #cmonson
AI isn’t coming to publishing—it’s already here. PW’s new AI for Publishing Bootcamp gives teams the tools and workflows to keep up.

First session is Feb 11. Early Bird pricing is now open.

Stearns was hired to build a winning team for the future and 2024's unexpected ride made some fans forget that.

This is the off-season he gets to live up to the hype, and any judgment is premature until at least Spring training starts.

Huh. 🤔

(Came out in December '78 and was still the #1 movie in '79.)

I was just in a dying mall that is in a struggle renaissance that includes anchor tenantsTJ Maxx and a dialysis center. And I, too, thought how this is a metaphor for the US.
The U.S. is giving dying mall vibes.

I can't explain it, but you know I'm right.

I'm not really surprised since @publisherswkly.bsky.social has been platforming this guy's vapid AI boosterism for a while now, but it's still disappointing to see them co-sign and monetize his grift now.

He makes McIlroy's earnest boosterism seem quaint by comparison.

This misses one of the bigger factors to consider: Netflix's gaming ambitions.

DC would not only give Netflix's existing IP an in-house publishing home (sorry Dark Horse), but DC's IP fits right in with their fledgling approach to gaming.
What does Netflix buying Warner Bros mean for DC Comics? With Netflix beginning talks to acquire Warner Bros., what will happen to DC Comics, a publishing oddity in the studio system

Gen X* buying into nostalgia slop makes no sense if they were old enough to remember the energy crisis

*feel like we should disaggregate Gen X because i promise you this narrative isn’t talking to Gen X of color
I’m losing it. They know that Gen X is the only demo they have any footing with and so they are going all in on the nostalgia slop for them.
