The way anti-vaxxers and conservatives have carelessly thrown away children’s lives has unironically made me feel we should reclaim the “pro-life” label and start yelling at these people for killing kids

It's hard to explain to normies how much effort Trump is putting into anti-trans policies.

This is like the 12th thing just this week. And there were 12 things the week before, and 12 things the week before that. There will be 12 things next week.

This is almost everything the government is doing.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

And then you read the article and the company is based in Belize and is ignoring Ofcom's letters.

Exactly by what mechanism are they extracting this fine?

"Welfare fraud" is similar to the de-transition rate grift. Any time it's ever investigated it turns out only a small handful of people are actually defrauding the system and most people who get it actually need it. If UK welfare law is anything like Australia's too, and I'm betting that it is...
Wes Streeting orders review of mental health diagnoses as benefit claims soar
Wes Streeting orders review of mental health diagnoses as benefit claims soar
Health secretary has asked experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become ‘over-pathologised’ The health secretary, Wes Streeting, has ordered a clinical review of the diagnosis of mental health conditions, according to reports. Streeting is understood to be concerned about a sharp rise in the number of people making sickness benefits claims because of diagnoses for mental illness, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the Times reported. He has asked leading experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become “over-pathologised”, the newspaper said, as he seeks to grapple with the 4.4 million working-age people now claiming sickness or incapacity benefit. The figure has risen by 1.2 million since 2019, while the number of 16 to 34-year-olds off work with long-term sickness because of a mental health condition is said to have grown rapidly in the same period. Streeting told the Times he knew from “personal experience how devastating it can be for people who face poor mental health, have ADHD or autism and can’t get a diagnosis or the right support”. He added: “I also know, from speaking to clinicians, how the diagnosis of these conditions is sharply rising. “We must look at this through a strictly clinical lens to get an evidence-based understanding of what we know, what we don’t know, and what these patterns tell us about our mental health system, autism and ADHD services. “That’s the only way we can ensure everyone gets timely access to accurate diagnosis and effective support.” The review, which is expected to be launched on Thursday, is set to be led by Prof Peter Fonagy, a clinical psychologist at University College London specialising in child mental health, with Sir Simon Wessely, a former president of the Royal College of Psychiatry, acting as vice-chair. An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

I keep seeing stuff about a petition and like, contact your reps directly. Sign that too if you want, but petition signatures are a lesser priority.
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

The irony is, PIP is *supposed* to help us to lead a more "normal" life. Being disabled in an ableist society has a financial burden. PIP is intended to alleviate that.

But the moment it shows any sign of working they try to take it away because "you're not suffering enough."
If I was on PIP, I would be worried that every single "good" day would be used to push me into poverty. I would probably never leave my home. I suppose, really, that's half the point.
