Porn and erotica are important and societally valuable forms of speech, and the defense of them, in the face of state and church attempts at repression, is a necessary political act.

I grew up destitute and still managed to refuse all four branches of the military trying to bait me into service, and that started when I was 17.

I took the ASVAB in high school to get a free backpack and did very well. Never planned to join, but I desperately needed a new backpack.

I read a lot more books by trans authors last year and I'm so glad I did (it also involved dipping into a lot of genres I don't often read, which was also fantastic).

Looking forward to reading many more in 2026!

Here are some that I read--I just wish I'd had more time for reviewing this year.

I don’t love you and I’m not holding your hand: call your Senator and tell them that the must shut down the government on January 30th until this ends, a thing that Democrats have the hard power to do at this very moment.
I love you all and am holding your hand as I say this:

Dems wield zero hard power levers
it's kind of crazy that there's even any question that democrats are going to do anything about this

I think we need to be able to balance the reactions "this is another expression of 250 years of American imperialism" and "what do you MEAN we kidnapped the president of Venezuela and renditioned him to the US and are now claiming to run the country"

1st book of the year finished (although I started it last month)! Good prose, well-embedded in time and place, with a knack for building subtle and deeply queer dread.

However, if this was a starred review, I'd nix one for doing the thing I dislike most in modern horror. Alas, but for 3 pages.

if you still use Twitter please understand that you are enabling and supporting this.

It’s only going to get worse, so you may as well leave now and start rebuilding your “following” anywhere else.
For the last few days on X, people (mainly women, and sometimes children) have had nonconsensual images of them in swimsuits (or much worse) requested by users and created by Grok.

Musk's only apparent response thus far has been to crack jokes about it.
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

CR: Love Burns Bright by Rien Gray

This series of F/NBi thrillers have been a comfort read for me this past month.

The characters are interesting & the prose is first-rate.

Honestly, I don’t care much about the thriller plot (I feel the same way about mysteries).

I just love a well written book.
