Hey so I loved Scales of Seduction so much when I was first hunting down queer/lesbian/trans fiction in the earliest days of my transition. It combines my love of mythology and themes of transformation in some of the most intense prose I've read.
I've suggested it to many of my friends irl!

Authors, Beware! There's a firm called "ClaimsHero" doing aggressive social media outreach claiming to
"help" you file to get $ in the Anthropic class action. In fact, it's a bait-and-switch, they are luring authors to sign up with them, then OPTING THEM OUT of the class action so they'll get zilch.

Censoring the internet or restricting social media will not result in less queer people, it will just increase the amount of queer people who suffer needlessly before discovering themselves.

Of course, for homophobes and transphobes, this is a bonus feature and not a flaw. They like us suffering.

Following up on this. This remains a ‘cave is minutes or hours away’ situation. If you want to impact how this plays out you need to contact senators literally now. I want to add additional points of context. What I’m relaying is what I’ve picked up from highly reliable sources.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

I called @warnock.senate.gov and asked him to hold the line AND tell his horrible colleagues to hold the line
Just called @ossoff.senate.gov with another rambling message like DO NOT BEND THE KNEE, stop letting them be Lucy with the football!!!!!!! They are not gonna give you this vote and you’ll all look like pathetic losers who gave up the American people for nothing!!

as a writer, you meet two types of hopefuls: people who like to write and people who want to be writers. It's the former who actually succeed – you need to love this, not as a means to an end but for itself entirely.
Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

Chopping up pounds of chicken, potatoes, and leeks for a stew while keeping warm by the stove and listening to music is pretty great, even if meal prep is a lot of damn work.

as much as the "author group wants to review your book" spam emails are annoying, the ones I get about Scales of Seduction are hilarious due to the words they pull out

yeah I'm sure she is 😆🐍

CPL is an absolute palace to the people and these proposed cuts are abominable. Artificial austerity. Chicago folks, read this, check the links to bug the mayor and your alders—this can be fought and won.
