The "ICE is using military tactics suited for a warzone, not for American streets" rhetoric kinda misses the point that warzones are not naturally occuring. The US military creates war zones from residential neighborhoods and the tactics are not more justifiable just because it's overseas

What I’ve learned about American politics the last decade is there is an annoyingly sizable population that does not actually believe in anything and simply imprints on the latest thing they heard on the radio like a duckling

4 Lakota men were kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis. 3 of them were taken to what used to be a concentration camp for Native people, and the only people talking about it are other Indigenous people. I am angry but mostly numb, I am so used to this at this point. We are always forgotten.

I spoke with @wired.com about how if local elected officials want to protect their community from ICE attacks, one of the most important things they can do is roll back city-level surveillance programs and restrict law enforcement use of Flock, facial recognition, etc www.wired.com/story/what-t...
What to Do if ICE Invades Your Neighborhood
With federal agents storming the streets of American communities, there’s no single right way to approach this dangerous moment. But there are steps you can take to stay safe—and have an impact.

Amazing how quickly the pretext for invading a city just falls away. The circular justification in Minneapolis is now “we are punishing the city for resisting our punishment.

These barbarians are destroying everything that makes society work. Kids can't go to school, patients can't go to the hospital. We are, in effect, paying them to wreck the basic infrastructure of the country

people act like harris was the same as biden on trans rights but joe ,"there are at least three genders" biden actually talked about us and said things being done to us were weird and bad. and he won in a landslide rather than abandoning us.

now suddenly respectable libs have "concerns" about us.
"Trans healthcare is healthcare" disappeared one day in 2020 and hasn't been seen since.
I can't help but notice that as trans acceptance backslides that casual allyship amonst cis people, even those that claim allyship loudly, is down noticeably.

A few years ago, cis strangers would defend my pronouns, now it's back to mostly close friends, mostly queer people.

It goes without saying that in the US you’re not supposed to have a masked secret police that snatches people off the streets without knowing if they’ve committed a crime. That’s about as basic a requirement for a democracy as exists.
Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"

the constitution has many flaws but addressing our current circumstances is not among them; the framers were in fact quite concerned about this kind of thing and were clear that it should not happen here

what they did not and could not guard against is the people in charge ignoring their plain text
As it happens though, the framers of the US constitution did say it: in the 4th amendment, the 5th, the 10th, etc.

What they didn’t provide for is federal immigration enforcement of any kind, only “a uniform rule of naturalization.” Nor did they give the federal government a plenary police power.

Abolish Democrats, then.
ICE may be shooting people in the face, sending people to concentration camps, and illegally occupying our cities but, apparently, the Democrats think saying, "abolish ICE" is "emotional" and politically "lethal."

Bidens job as President was first and foremost to protect the United States of America from enemies foreign and domestic and he fumbled the bag like none other before him. You could say, ultimately, he is the sole reason we are here. He was the only person who had the immense power to stop it.

People don't want to accept that the primary reason that we have Trump today is that the previous administration completely failed. It should have never gotten to the point where it was in the so-called hands of the voters. It was already too late by then.

In the first season of the show I really wanted him to have actually sabotaged his friend at the beginning. I thought a more duplicitous and selfish character was more befitting his performance and was kind of let down how plain he actually is. Looking forward to more complex roles from him.
I would love to see Aaron Moten play a more villainous character in something more complex than Fallout. He’s a really strangely compelling actor. It always looks like there’s something very dark going on beneath the placid surface.

We are far past the stage of permissiveness with white-supremacist violence inside DHS. We are witnessing ICE transition into a death squad.

This cannot be reformed. The only question is who will fight to abolish it, and who will accommodate it instead.
