On Atalantis, poly marriages are common & normalized. They usually don't get bigger than 3-4 people but the mix can be whatever as long as there are 2+ genders involved. Marriage also isn't explicitly about romantic

Late today due to sleep-needing reasons! Kazuo is daring Noah to go explore a creepy place. (Let's be real, Noah would totally do it even without the bribe 😂)

From #Tenement, my dystopian mystery about people living in an infinite building.
He squinted, pretending to think it over. His eyes gleamed in that Kazuo-ish way that made you feel like he knew exactly who he was and exactly who you were and exactly how to come out on top no matter what. It was his card-playing look. Everyone always hated playing cards with Kazuo. He loved it that they hated it. “Alright, Noah.” He stroked his chin. “How about this? You go in there, mm, ten paces? And I’ll let you keep the Nwissy for a week.” “Five paces, and I keep the Nwissy for good.” He winced. “Oh now, Noah. If you’re going to be that way about it, we can just forget it. I don’t care about you going in there that much.” “You guys!” Jon growled. “I really don’t think anyone should be—!” “Alright, fine,” I backpedaled. “How about I go in... twelve paces, and you let me keep the Nwissy for... a month?” “Deal!” We shook on it.

Honestly, if she’d not been very much not that way inclined (and pretty sure he’d not have appreciated it) she could’ve bloody kissed him. *Food. A chance to rest, somewhere that I’m not looking over my shoulder for Caine every five fucking minutes, and* food. *Oh, and clothes, I suppose. Not sure that’s as important as the rest, honestly, but I’ll not argue with it.* The clothes he’d lent her weren’t exactly what she’d have picked out herself – they were heavier fabric than she was used to, and obviously not cut for someone her height and build – but they were more than adequate to cover up the bits that humans (and vampires) tended to have problems with, and she wasn’t about to argue with that if it got her something to eat faster. Speaking of… “Are you taking the long way round for any particular reason, or did you just fancy a detour?” He looked back over his shoulder at her, raising a friendly eyebrow. “You must be feeling at least slightly better, if you’re coming out with sarcasm all of a sudden. Good eyes, though. I wanted to head past my father’s study on the way – if we’re able to get him to come down to the kitchen with us, you can eat and brief him on the situation at the same time.” “You realise that’s not going to work, right? Not unless you expect me to explain this whole mess with my mouth full, and that’s not something I’d wish on anyone.”

“I need to sit down.” The Rec was still with her, blessing and curse wrapped into a smarmy, overconfident companion. “You must continue. There is no seating in this portion of the ship.” Her eyes rolled so hard she could feel fresh sweat gathering under the lids. “I know that, I mean I need a minute. I think I tore every muscle in my forearms. Who built this thing? It’s like trying to open a submarine at the bottom of the sea.” “It is unlikely that you have permanently injured yourself. However, the pressure release valves are designed to be turned by machine, in planetary atmosphere. Your physical fitness has served our needs well. Congratulations.” “Yeah, thanks.” She groped for a button on the helmet, that she both couldn’t feel through thick gloves or see for its positioning. “Boy, I’m glad nobody is here watching me hitting myself in the head to turn the light on. And I have an itch under my nose I can’t scratch! I hate space!” With a whack, the helmet lamps suddenly shot their beams into the dark access corridor beyond. “One problem down.” There wasn’t much to see, just a dingy, tight metal hallway with a grated floor, exactly like the one on Tartarus. She was right below the supply store with its massive building sized prefabs all waiting to be pieced together on a planet they would probably never reach. “To the bow then I guess

Av’ry had been walking ahead, sweeping the torch over the floor, but suddenly he stopped and held his arm out, halting them both. “What is it?” Fox asked. “Look for yourself.” He held the torch out in front of him. She followed his gaze into the seemingly bottomless chasm in front of them. “Ah, yes. I had wondered if we would see another one of these.” The shaft that descended into the mountain was much like the one back in Cillvala; this had clearly been the dragons’ preferred method of transit between floors. “It seems like the previous occupants had little use for stairs or ladders, unfortunately,” Av’ry said. “And no one got in before us to set up bridges, this time.” Mikiva sighed. “Good thing we came prepared.” Fox dropped her pack and retrieved the thick coils of rope. We just need to find something to affix this to, and hopefully we can drop down to the lower levels.” “And what if we need to get across?” Mikiva asked. “How about we build that bridge when we get to it, huh?” Fox replied.

A promise to share her thoughts unfiltered was not what he wanted, but Tokonus had to admit that it was progress. That did not mean that she was off the hook. Moving in on her, he placed his hands on her waist and pulled his lady close. “I trust you, I’ll let you have your way – but don’t make me ask later. I wouldn’t want any static to build up between us now.” Tok moved to deliver a kiss to Othelia’s forehead but was impeded by a row of her fingers. “Now Lord Tokonus, just because we are alone does not mean you can perform in just any fashion. I promise I will tell you what you want to know, but we must have decorum when we are together.” Othelia gave him a gentle smile as if to show that she was not rejecting him entirely, but the lady did not give in either. “Besides, we’re not done. I said before that we could not accept the offered terms without conditions and I meant that.” The Lukshen lord accepted the rejection on the outside gracefully but was not as well put together inside. The comfort that came from their new physical relationship wasn’t something that he had ever experienced and now he wanted more. Othelia was correct to say that they had other business, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to ignore it. There would always be another problem, another task. Silently, he threw his tantrum, but verbally he agreed. “That you did, which can only mean that you have already come up with what you would ask for in return.”

Noah just has a few questions about this place...

From chapter 1 of #Tenement, my dystopian mystery about people living in an infinite building.
“Noah Boy,” she’d say to me, pinching my ear. “They’ll really be after you. You think all those bad thoughts—makes you as tasty to them as a chocolate truffle.” I didn’t exactly know what a chocolate truffle was. (According to legend, Nan Enokido had once stumbled across one in an empty room when she was a young woman, and had spent the rest of her life hoping to find another.) But I knew what she meant. She always said things like that to me, especially when I would get into one of what my father called my “why moods.” Why hasn’t anyone ever tried going all the way to the end of the Tenement? I’d ask. Or, Why do we even have a Front Door if we’re not allowed to open it? Why don’t we ever see the Landlord? How do we know there’s really nothing outside of the Tenement? If the Tenement’ll fall apart without the Rules, then why didn’t the Landlord just build it better in the first place? “Noah.” My father would sigh at my questions. “Please stop.” I didn’t mean any harm. But those questions were always popping into my head. If someone had given me some good answers, I would have stopped asking.

Tokonus’ eyes drifted over to Othelia while lowering his shirt. She did not see him, not with her head turned away as if she was lost in thought. It was very likely that the lady was recounting what she witnessed. There was no doubt that Othelia had been a bit shaken up by the altercation, but it took no time for her to return to her normal calculating self. To an unflattering degree, Tokonus wished that the moment of uncertainty had lasted longer. It would have given him an excuse – “There is nothing that I can do for him.” Tokonus hadn’t even registered who had spoken until he turned to the sound. Of course, his mother had been looking over [redacted] as requested. “I did not think that I had killed him, he was breathing to be sure,” Tokonus replied with a hint of concern in his voice. “No, it had nothing to do with what happened between you.” Sepera rubbed at the bridge of her nose, frustration so loud that you might have thought she had announced it to the world. “This young man, I can heal his body, but that is not where his problem lies. It is as you suspected, he is not sick... not in the traditional sense. His body is a host and what he is entertaining... is an Abysmal.”
