I’m not playing both sides do it bullshit. Only one side on this site tells people they did a genocide if they merely disagree with them.

Idk if your job/online persona requires you to not see what Democrats are doing, then you won’t see it, and you certainly aren’t seeking it

What we are seeing is media reorienting itself to be messengers from the ownership class to the subjects of the regime not journalism or news as we understood it.

Musk has been chiefly responsible for an unprecedented assault on the government and the civil service, for a blatantly unconstitutional destruction of state capacity that will severely harm millions of people at home and abroad, for an aggressively illegal theft of private data.

Good to see the NYT still has some columnists objecting to their own paper’s attempt to help Musk launder his image.

But: If a somewhat functioning democratic system is to ever again emerge from this mess, reputational damage won’t do. Musk needs to be held accountable in a court of law.
"If there were justice in the world, Musk would never be able to repair his reputation... Musk’s sojourn in government has revealed severe flaws in his character — a blithe, dehumanizing cruelty, and a deadly incuriosity. This should shape how he’s seen for the rest of his public life."

Absolutely surreal to have lived through the Napster days and watched as the titans of industry moved hell and high water to lock down any possible chance that someone's song might get swapped online without giving the studios a cut and now those same people are just like "well we gotta steal music"

For every amazing local journalism story trying to make American lives better, there’s a big, lazy, national media narrative that is hot gutter trash making Americans stupider and lowering their expectations of government to a bullsh*t reality show.

Truly embarrassing stuff here.

the bit about Africans being active in the slave trade is telling. it’s something that is only relevant if you think the point of discussing slavery is to disburse racial blame rather than understanding history.
amazingly fucked up that the NYT is uncritically publishing the claim, “Race has some biological reality.”

that is, definitionally, racism. textbook.
