DO NOT call up the homeless shelter on thanksgiving or Xmas to see if you can pass a few plates and show your kids the “reason for the season”

The homeless shelter is not a petting zoo of human tragedy! The homeless shelter is not a drive thru nativity scene for you to enjoy!

Here is my tip for getting Xmas music out of your head: you need a more powerful earworm. I find most any song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory works wonders (with the exception, of course, of the bathroom break classic Cheer Up, Charlie)

And if you manage to commandeer the music player, get yourself a playlist of Baroque orchestras and you're golden. Frosty and (shudder) THAT GODDAMN RUMPAPUMPUM DRUMMER BOY are banished.

When I worked at a bookstore, I quickly learned that people cannot tell the difference between Xmas music and any Baroque or Elizabethan music album that doesn't get too organ-ish. I used this to my advantage.

One customer caught on... AND THANKED ME
If we had to hear “Baby Shark” everywhere we went for two whole months out of the year we’d throw a fit, right?

And rightfully so.

So tell me, why do we put up with it when the song is “Frosty the Snowman”?

And yes, there is a horrible history of bad drugs like thalidomide getting approved, and horrifically immoral testing. But every time something like that came to light, the FDA got stricter and stricter! It got tougher over time.

Does that mean some effective natural and herbal remedies never get approved? Maybe. But it also means every scumbag with flavored water bottles and a dream can’t insist they can cure chlamydia or whatever.

Anyway, the reason a lot of new age/woo/alternative medicine/homeopathy/etc. etc. types hate the FDA isn’t because it forces people to take dangerous drugs. It’s because it actually demands they prove their treatments work in a controlled clinical environment before they will approve them.

When weird rich, unqualified asshole zealots like RFK act like vaccines and other medical treatments aren’t being proven effective and are necessary, they are full of shit. And no, there was never any good evidence of an autism connection. One fraudulent and limited study. One. By a discredited Dr.

I wish all the USians who don’t trust modern medicine, especially vaccines, would realize that at least 25 years ago when I was in clinical data management (can’t speak for now; I’m sure it’s getting gutted badly), the FDA was actually one of the most stringent regulatory bodies in the world.

Case in point: David is pointing out that things he turned OFF were turned back ON and the response was "oh these are optional". Like.. not if you keep turning them back on they aren't!
Thank you for the feedback David. It's important to note that these features are optional and local models are downloaded if the feature is used.

Skip it entirely if you want. We understand this won't please everyone but we strongly believe in giving people a choice in how they browse.

Thinking about this, and now I'm wondering about a gender flipped Victoria Von Doom.

Other Dooms would probably be sexist twits at her, which would only inflame the superiority complex. On the other hand, I could see more collaboration with Rose. Especially if the world was out to get both of them.
One thing I did notice in the Huckman run, and yes it is a Council of REEDS, but there were no female Reeds on that Council.

Clearly that was purposeful to let us know they were bad.

If the good Reed Richards of the multiverse ever collaborate, there should be a Rose Richards or two in there.

After Midnight Mass came out, I remember reading comments online from folk saying the Sheriff was playing the victim card, or that Islamophobia isn’t a thing anymore etc…

And then Zohran Mamdani enters the chat in 2025 and is greeted with abhorrent Islamophobia & 9/11 jibes.

Well well well…

The comic book business can be brutal and chaotic, but it's also a place where the creators you idolized when you were a kid can become your close friends when you're older.

And that's just really freaking cool.
