Right? It’s not like religion has ever been associated with atrocities before
I never understood how people of faith could vote for this degenerate scumbag.

Sarcasm aside, I recommend @thebugbeardispatch.bsky.social for her discussion of how this kind of talk (see also “fake Christians”) is the product of the same system that elevates Christians in society and helped Christofascism fester till we got here

Mainly find this fascinating (and horrifying) as yet another disgusting, repeated technique Gaiman uses to attack which completely backs up the narrative that he’s a controlling abuser: if a story is deeply reported about his negative, destructive behavior? Well no, it’s just bad journalism.

This guy is a pastor of a southern baptist conference church. He and the church claim Christianity with no push back from sbc. Saying they aren't Christian just because you don't think christains can be bad/ evil is refusing to accept the religion's responsibility for this evil.

I'd say we never left the 1980s (like the US leadership felt that period was Who We Are), and that a major reason 9/11 broke the brains of the country leadership so bad is because it -- and especially what would have been the appropriate response to it -- couldn't fit into that particular model.

In some ways I think we’ve never left that post-9/11 era. What’s happening now is an escalation of what W. did with creating DHS and launching the “war on terror.”

However, while Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez may be many things, “smart” is not one of them

What doesn’t suck is how unflinching the people of Minneapolis have been in standing against the ICEholes even at risk of their own. I stand in solidarity with them and all who are targeted by DHS/CBP, as well as all who knew Alex Pretti.

May we soon see ICE and DHS itself abolished

Sorry I’ve been so quiet lately. I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed and have come down with a cold too; I’m sniffling and coughing over here.

I have no brilliant thoughts on the news but will say it sucks to have a “Dem” rep who is now officially worse than National Review

Viola Liuzzo, Rev. James Reeb, Renee Nicole Good, Alex Pretti

white Christian Nationalists are enraged by people they consider traitors to what they consider the Christian (w a capital "C") racial and gendered order of this world that they believe is theirs to define, govern, and violence at will.
Alex Pretti got 7 rounds in public because he was an observer, protester, nurse, athlete, and a seemingly white cishet guy who sided with the oppressed, and that's the one thing that, to racist bullies like ICE, is worse than being brown, queer, or a woman.
Norman Rockwell captured the phenomenon.
