Brett Kavanaugh And The GOP’s Politics Of Abuse - Rantt Media
As the Republican Party stands by alleged abusers, their policies inflict a form of abuse on vulnerable Americans.

So much about politics can be summed up by the answers to two questions:
Who is allowed to be a bully?
And who is allowed to defend themselves?

CALIFORNIANS: have you voted YES ON 50 yet? if not, get that shit done. reminder that you can drop off your ballot at your polling place OR if you need to, drop it in the mail (as long as it’s postmarked today, it’ll count).
We need to pass Prop 50 today in CA to counter what Trump & TX are doing to gerrymander & steal the election. It’s a temporary measure & essential counter-balance. We also need to work on a federal law mandating all 50 states use independent redistricting commissions to draw congressional districts.

The president says he will defy court orders and illegally withhold SNAP benefits despite there being money in the SNAP contingency fund that the Trump is required to use.

This shit is neverending. They’re all predators and abusers. An entire political movement devoted to it.
Andrew Taake, pardoned from a six-year sentence by Trump for January 6th related crimes, will not serve any prison time for a child sex crime because of that pardon.
Taake pleaded guilty to online solicitation of a minor in 2016 and got three years in prison...but he already served three years/

I found this a really illuminating thread on what demonstrations do and why they matter.
In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

We’ve been in this dance our entire lives, but in the past decade it’s been overtly obvious. It’s time to stop expecting different from corporate media or moderate liberals. They have their agendas and they are most definitely not on your side. It shouldn’t surprise you anymore.

For the wealth class to continue hoarding and consolidating resources it requires fascism.
The wealth class owns all corporate media, so the coverage normalizes fascism while vilifying even the most moderate reform or change.
That’s it. That’s the game.

Trump's mechanism to pay the troops during the shutdown is by far the most illegal budgetary action he's taken as POTUS, potentially setting the stage to break everything.
It's also needless because Congress would easily pass a troop pay bill if Johnson were willing to gavel in.
Long thread.

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.
