Me: I stocked us up on Halloween candy.

Roomie: That’s good, as long as we don’t embezzle it.

Me: Well, um, this one bag “turns out to be” open somehow. I guess we’ll have to inspect every piece

Roomie: By…

Me: Eating them. It’s the only surefire way to protect the children

'Because the debate as currently framed is so stuck on the reification of "male" and "female" as discrete categories, it is difficult to find broadly inclusive language, but those who care about LGBTQ rights as well as cishet women's rights have every reason to support topless equality.'

It is so good! It is such a huge issue when I was breastfeeding & traveling. There is such a patchwork of acceptable standards, we have such a long way to go.

GOOD MORNING!! We got brand new content for you today, this week we got @thebugbeardispatch.bsky.social writing about #FreeTheNipple and why it still matters in 2025: the-flytrap.ghost.io/amid-fierce-...
Amid Fierce Patriarchal Backlash and Surging Fascism, Does Freeing the Nipple Still Matter?
A transgender woman with “indecent” breasts makes the case that topless equality is still worth fighting for.

I feel like a lot of places that were once safe off-the-beaten path hotspots for nudity and skinny dipping are no longer that way. I know in western NC of a few places like that (even places like Skinny Dip Falls where its part of the name) are always swamped with dozens of tourists and families now

Ah! I gave my gift copy of @theflytrapmedia.com to a friend I haven't seen in ages last year ... and she's been reading and enjoying it.

... which is excellent news!

Also apparently we both think of each other while reading it. 😊

In Oregon, nudity was common in Joseph & at Lehman hot springs near Ukiah, in Bend, Bagby hotsprings, Astoria, Ashland & Eugene where it is just expected as part of local weirdness. Near LaGrande is Sammyville which is it's own thing, too. That may have changed to expand (or contract) since then.

I still find it hilarious that on shows like #DragRace that chestplate nipples aren't censored but "real" nipples are.

This was such a fun one to work on; if you think 'free the nipple' is old news and there's nothing more to say, there is. This is the kind of stuff I adore running at @theflytrapmedia.com!

It's hard to find places in the Pacific NW where you'll get arrested for showing your nipples, but the Lesbian Avengers did do a protest about this a while back and my topless trans chest confused some cops for 20 minutes.

I was glad to have the fronts of women who had previously had my back.

This issue really came home to me when I started breastfeeding my child. We’re legally allowed to breastfeed in public, but lots of women feel uncomfortable doing it. If it was more normalized for women to be topless, public nursing would feel less weird and stigmatized imo.

Sucks for freelance writers too
Many freelancers in the United States rely on ACA marketplace plans for their health insurance. In an industry that has already been working overtime to turn gamedevs into gig workers, freelance and contract devs are about to get even more squeezed. This is unacceptable.

Fascism can't win without outlets like the NYT and WaPo continuously doing this.

Please stop sending money to these outlets. The bland, white-friendly recipes and word puzzles aren't worth it.

Fund @theflytrapmedia.com, or @unraveledpress.com, or any number of local independent journalists.
