I find I can forgive people for not knowing some awful thing about people or groups who, upon finding out, leave. I find I no longer am so gracious as to forgive those who do know and willfully engage anyway. Epstein "colleagues" who knew and persisted? No. People who join RW groups knowingly? No.

One of the best examples of racial exceptionalism clouding basic cognitive function on the part of a subset of the US commentariat was when the NYT ran a rare story about the IDF shooting children in the head and evidenced this with actual MRIs and X-Rays and people still denied this was possible.

I, however, have enjoyed the reporting of @jeffsharlet.bsky.social since the New Yorker article on the C-Street dorm and I watched his Netflix documentary, so I am not surprised in the least.
The interesting thing is that organizers at both prayer breakfasts clearly *still* try to be bipartisan, except that Trump’s speeches at the event just repeatedly derail those efforts.
