burnt-out, neurodivergent, polygottal polymath and reconstructed emigré from the right-wing fever-swamps

Without a conscience, I could have been Q.

Had I been able to conform, I’d have been a pastor.

Now I’m some kind of artsy-fartsy, paganish commie.

Okay, I might have cracked the plaster in my apartment with that laugh!
Whether it's Hillary Clinton sending emails to her staff saying "please print" or Donald Trump sending letters to Jeffrey Epstein alluding to child rape, both candidates sent some questionable messages to people that they knew.

Back when I was communicating with Lawrence Krauss about his public defense of Jeffrey Epstein, I was shocked by how illiterate he was. After reading the recently leaked Epstein emails, it seems like the entire pedo network wrote that way. Weird. skepchick.org/2011/04/lawr...

A dispute between a celebrity couple sets the whole world ablaze institutions, media outlets, influencers, and worshippers of likes all rush to react.
But the rape of a free Palestinian prisoner from Gaza, violated in turn by occupation soldiers, draws no outrage, no attention, no voices.

zoomers can't read, and boomers can't write
One thing that the Epstein emails have taught me is that lots of supposedly superior intellects don't understand basic grammar.

It makes rape of non-compliant women acceptable. And of course removes women's autonomy about her body.

I’m not some species of communist and some species of anarchist because all of the hot bods on Bluesky, but it is fun that I’ve got a lot of beautiful comrades who share themselves like this.

It has been several years since I read Gulliver’s Travels by that master satirist, Jonathan Swift, but (OG) Laputa comes to mind almost weekly, whether it’s BS at work or BS in the society broadly.

I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

We need to hammer into the Good at Math guys that they are much easier to replace with a foreigner than the Good at Words people.
Part of the issue is that Good at Words people are generally inclined to accept that people are all different ways and to think that’s just fine. Good at Math people have been allowed too much room to think that only they have the thoughts that matter.

confused about why literacy rates in the United States are plummeting? the answer is infuriating: poor literacy amongst the working class benefits oligarchs & other fascists.

check out this short video from Michael Parenti on how reading is a revolutionary act:

Quokka politics
It's funny how much the BBC and Labour have in common. Challenged by the Right, they immediately throw their base under a bus, in a doomed and foolish attempt to appease those who will always hate them.

Late Antique pogs??? 🙃
Some 1,500 years ago, a child was buried with a set of game pieces made of animal bones.
Single game pieces are frequently found in early medieval graves in south-west Germany, but complete sets are rare.
Found in Herbolzheim, 500-550 AD.

The existence of trans people is not an "ideology", BBC. It is a reality and one which Parliament has recognized.

(Entirely typical of the BBC that, confronted by a populist right attack, they will show willing by dumping on trans people. Weak with the strong, strong with the weak, as always.)

I’ve taught this method to college-bound ESL students. Sure, it teaches some cheats which can be useful, but (Senshi hat) nothing beats experience with words and their shades of denotations and connotations. Increasingly, we are a society of people who only know the cheaty way.

"One shudders to think how many children have died [from dehydration or sepsis while trapped beneath rubble] in Gaza."
A civil society group in Gaza on Thursday appealed for international assistance to help recover the bodies of more than 10,000 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces who remain buried beneath the rubble of the flattened strip.
