So this looks interesting - magnetic-based position trackers for VR full body tracking. They are about to kickstart the first manufacturing run it seems... www.fluxpose.com #vr #vrchat #cluster

The only fic, to my knowledge, ever inspired by a tweet of mine. It includes a phrase I would be proud to have written: “A man who does not love naked hot sauerkraut wrestling truly cannot be said to love our country.”
NB-
This is a reference to a simpler time (apparently 7:10 PM · Jul 2, 2021) . Fic thoughtfully bearing witness is archiveofourown.org/works/33342418

There's a shawarma restaurant chain in Canada that markets via well-produced YT / TikTok shorts. Their running gag is that if you put ketchup on the shawarma, their guy is going to hunt you down and take you out. I keep wondering when they're going to get dinged by a platform's moderation.

Yikes. Banning people for activities such as co-authorship and advising a graduate student is completely unreasonable in a modern research environment. And a retroactive 5 year ban is wildly unfair.

What is truly pathetic about Labour is that this is all they have got. They have failed so spectacularly already, despite a whacking great majority, to even attempt to govern positively that all they have is punching down on marginalised groups and saying "oh but Reform will be worse".

Every time this kind of thing comes round it's because the people saying this are remembering being kids and of course the world seems better when someone else is worrying about taking care of you and you can spend most of your time just riding bikes.
Ah the 1970s.

Stagflation, three day weeks, collapsing infrastructure. Civil War in Northern Ireland. In yer face racism and bigotry everywhere. Bin strikes. Strikes in general. Blackouts. Industrial decline. Wage inequality. Dog crap everywhere. And households spent 25% of their income on food.

Absolute nonsense. Anyone who lived through the period, or who has studied the period, will know how daft, how dangerously silly, this kind of rot is. If I may, I was there. It was FAR more grey, tough, poor, bigoted, boring, terrifying, violent & frequently flat-out insane than nostalgia insists.

funny seeing Jimmy Saville cited by people here - mostly, I think, non-Brits. the weird thing about Saville was that in my experience *no one liked him* - at least, children. He was almost universally seen as a creepy weirdo if you were a kid in the era of Jim'll Fix It, etc.
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

Pointing out (in my 'BBC' accent) that I don't qualify can be amusing, as the 'reasonable' person tries to avoid saying 'but you're White?!'. Yes, with two Irish grandparents on my father's side. Which incidentally now means my British passport can be taken off me, thanks to the last Tory govt 2/3

Pre the last election, I explained the passport thing to a Tory canvasser on the doorstep as one reason why they would never get my vote. I won't apologise for taking considerable satisfaction in watching his jaw literally drop with horror as he said, 'but - my wife's Canadian - so my kids...'

I think people are missing the point with this Epstein thing.

The question is not did he have sex with underaged girls. He did.

The question is not did he have illegal financial transactions with Epstein. He did.

The question is not did he serve as an asset and agent of Putin. He did.

To explain: "Kabbalah" is a term referring to a wide array of mystic practices and texts in Judaism, but antisemites have LONG used it as an example of Judaic secretiveness and evil

Ergo describing some evil secret group as a "cabal"

Anyway, now you know

In the Museum of Brands and Packaging down in Notting Hill, you can see this happening again and again. “McIntosh’s Radio Toffee”. “Vimulon Atomic Soap: now with Uranium!” “Tinford’s Electric Cufflinks”. It’s always bollocks. It’s the giveaway it’s a nine day’s wonder, before it all calms down.
