About a decade ago, I spent ~36 hours in Dallas County's Lew Sterritt Detention because I failed to pay a Failure to Stop ticket.
In that 36 hours the single actual meal ~50 of us in that holding cell were served was baloney sandwiches syruped with Fabuloso. No authority there gave a damn.

Got a case now where they refused to give a pretrial detainee his insulin until he fell into diabetic ketoacidosis and died.
Every few months some agitated weirdo gets upset at me over the Atlantic post I did about how the prison system ROUTINELY engages in unimaginable abuse and lets people kill themselves, because they read it as “THERE’S NO WAY EPSTEIN WAS MURDERED”
