Minor site update: coach measurements for 25-26 are up at hockeyviz.com/coaches (you can also use the link in the Tools menu; you will need a Basic subscription in either case).

Walked 1 minute to the dentist this morning. Cities are so undefeated
I think about this every single day as I drop my kids off to one of their various local summer camps that they love and then walk to the train that costs me less than $3 to read while being delivered directly into my office building

cities can suck, cities aren't for everyone

and also they rule
We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

half the posts I read about claude code lately are like "if you spend 90 minutes crafting the perfect prompt, claude.md file, generate the right subagents, then you can magically save yourself 20 minutes of work!"

Nik Ehlers (6x8.5m with Carolina) is a tremendous generator and finisher of offence, especially at 5v5, average defensively, strongly impacts his team's penalty differential. An extremely team-friendly deal.

New xG models should be on my website by the end of next week. Will also have data starting from the 2010-2011 season. Know I’ve been teasing the matchups write up but needed to do this first to address some bad data cleaning/pipelining, weird goalie GSAx values, and accuracy

I saw this from @pierreanalytics.com over at the other place, but since he hardly posts here, wanted the Bsky folks to see it too:
Andrei Svechnikov NHL Edge skating stats in 2021-2022 (left, pre-ACL surgery) vs 2024-2025 (right). It's the percentile column that should jump out.

I simulated 10,000 of Connor Bedard's shots on goal with his probabilities and compared it with his actual output so far this season. Any requests?
