Ranting and grumbling about Capitals Hockey
Frank needs to fly the zone like that every shift

Get him a Hatty

I wonder what that notable stat could be that is only acheived by just playing a game

I think the Caps' "struggles" are very easily explained. They have a lot of good players and specifically when two of your Top 9 forwards are no longer what they were the year prior - Ovechkin due to age and PLD due to injury - you get a team struggling to score.

The margins were very thin to begin

This will be very shortly followed with "I lowered the prices for groceries"
it's almost like tariffs increase prices

Kinda feels like TvR's days as a regular in the lineup are over.

Chisolm I think has been better and is winning a job on the bottom pairing.

DO NOT REPEAT THIS INSIGHT is going to get a lot of run from me.

An all timer. Thank you, Larry.

Great news!
BREAKING: The Supreme Court DENIES former county clerk Kim Davis's request for the justices to take up her longshot bid to overturn 2015's Obergefell v. Hodges marriage equality decision. No justice even writes about the request.

When I say these guys think they are inventing Machine God I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating for LOLs but that is really genuinely what they believe. They think they are inventing a higher form of life. They exist inside an insular group of other rich people that are radicalising each other.

It sounds like I'm FOR what the Dems did last night.

I can assure you that I'm not FOR it. I'm probably also not AGAINST it (clearly).

Just still so surprised that the consensus from liberal leaning people was to just go on with this forever no matter the cost (ACA subsidies still expiring?)

Clinging onto hope that Republicans were going to flip or negotiate before this point was just that - hope. They were never going to budge.

Every reason why people are saying they won't do anything now applies to if it continues to be shut down.
Shaheen: "I think we can get a bipartisan bill out of the Senate that will address this [healthcare] issue. And if not, we know that the voters are going to know who's on their side and who's going to hold them accountable."
November 10, 2025 at 2:20 PM
I think the thing I most misunderstand is how people who are against this thought it would have gone.

The sheer amount of people needed to flip in the Senate was not happening.

And if it did... SPEAKER JOHNSON SAID HE WOULDNT NEGOTIATE ON THIS.

I guess I always assumed this was how it would end.
The one thing that's confounding me with everyone so insistent that some of these Dems shouldn't have agreed to this - why is everyone saying "can't trust Republicans to negotiate now" as if yesterday Republicans were all jazzed up and ready to negotiate on the ACA?

My read: cutting a deal right now plays worse with Democrats and better with Independents in terms of their perception of the Democratic Party

Could be way wrong here but that's the sense I get from everything
November 10, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Idk what the right call is, but I'm really surprised at how the overwhelming majority seem to think that waiting this out further will eventually mean that Republicans will come over to "their" side.

Like... People really think that could happen at some point anytime soon?

Caps really needed that win last night.

Monkey off the back for Ovi #900, lotta pucks went in the net after a stretch of them not going in, and a win breaking a losing streak. Doesn't matter that it came at the hands of an awful opponent.

Big road trip coming up that will be a big test for them.

I can't say what I want because the people around me would find my opinions disgusting...

They are the problem, not me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fun thing is if there’s a bunch of players who hold the same views as eddy but are afraid to speak up it’s because they know their ideas and views are bad and dumb and will get rejected by the marketplace of ideas like wemby blocking a shot into the 10th row

Notice that MAGA’s reaction to last night’s brutal losses is NOT “hey let’s try to win the will of the voters with good policy.” It’s, let’s end the filibuster, let’s end mail-in voting, all ideas for winning without really CONVINCING anyone to vote for them
November 5, 2025 at 2:17 PM
And yet - they won't vote for a Democrat

It says a lot about a lot of things and anyone who thinks it's just one or two simple things is just heavily biased towards those things

Also don't think we ever see his approval rating go much further below that, because that's roughly the amount of Rs
Pollster: The approval rating for Trump is at a low point of his second term. 37% of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing. 63% disapprove. 61% of our poll respondents say Trump has gone too far when it comes to using presidential power.
