Life Update Time: Yesterday morning my wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
All are healthy and doing well!
We are so happy and blessed. We cannot wait for our other son to meet his Baby Brother.

In general with him - there's a chance you're selling a guy when he's at his highest value that makes moving on from Sandin in part of a larger package pretty tempting if you think he's more the guy we've seen in past years and not just this past season.

We're 2 months removed from the series and Berkshire is still bitching about the officiating in a series his favorite team lost.

The Caps need to be better in Game 2, but I don't think they're that far off of what they need to do to win games in this series and against this type of team.

As an update to this all, here's the Caps' xG per 60 by period against MTL and where that would rank compared to the league-wide, regular season table
Best team in the NHL in the 1st & 2nd, worst team in the NHL in the 3rd
Also - their Scoring Chances Againtst/60 in 3rd Period woulda ranked 32nd
Best team in the NHL in the 1st & 2nd, worst team in the NHL in the 3rd

I'm on the fence on it personally. It would be maybe more fair, but on the flip side it does give us some more exciting first round games. And I do think 1-8 wouldn't change all that much.
Regular Season points is how that's measured yet our perception of teams isn't based on that same metric.

Jack Han - @jhanhky.bsky.social - pointed this out on the other site, but the Caps have this inability to generate chances in their favor when trailing and we saw that in spades last night. Come the 3rd they allowed far more chances than they could generate while trailing.
