The one on the left. Less politics, more books & movies. Posts (is that what they’re called?) continue to not be my own. Reposts never/always endorsements (delete as appropriate)
After the crash at the San Marino Grand Prix during free practice in 1994… in which
Rubens Barrichello was severely injured and the drivers said they didn’t want to continue.

Or even after Ratzenberger was killed the day after. Just cancel the race.

F1 would look very different.
What’s your modern historical hinge point? Nothing political. Just your major cultural What If? For example, I’m a 1994 Expos truther

This week I'm launching "The Big Green Books 500 Club".

It's a pretty simple plan, but with your help, we can start to regularly send £500 of books into schools who need them.

It costs just £1 a week.

Here's the plan.

Please share (and join!)

Thanks.

A Borges story about a guy who gets AI to summarize all the world’s information for him, and then summarize the summary, until the AI has the whole world summarized into a single word. He sits alone at his desk, staring at the word, repeating it endlessly, certain he is experiencing everything

'I'm being paid to fix issues caused by AI'
Businesses that rush to use AI to write content or computer code, often have to pay humans to fix it.

There is something so fundamentally telling with people who think that “reading a book” and “knowing what the plot is” is the same experience.
You basically cannot.

Is it just me who always assumes a degree of fiction in almost ALL memoirs? Clearly in this case the deception is the problem.

The writing itself is often great, but the need to spin a yarn to sell it undermines the whole thing.

There is doubtless a great book to be written about that walk

I always love the example of “In Patagonia” which was sold as a travel book but was in fact mostly fiction.

cool thing about quitting vaping while having unmedicated ADHD is that no longer being able to emotionally self-regulate by using nicotine means I will now just leave basically all dinners to power walk for ten minutes between courses as otherwise I will lose my mind 👍

Anyone got a positive review of Labour's year?

The positive case:

1. Policy progress backed up by cash on housing, energy, defence.
2. No financial meltdown despite widening fiscal space for investment.
3. Positive approach to global trade.
4. Plans on health, industrial strategy in place.

Just a reminder that while her ex nonstop soils himself in public with tasteless displays of wealth and look-at-me, thirsty nonsense, Mackenzie Scott has given away close to $20 billion to 1,600 charities, no strings attached and without any need for recognition.
