Three months ago I bought an old Superman comic and found an oddly familiar looking space telescope inside. Today, I've just had an article about it published by Scientific American!

How Superman Helped Launch the Hubble Space Telescope
Long before it orbited Earth, the Hubble Space Telescope starred in a famous Superman comic

Superman vs the Amazing Spider-Man: Original (1976) and Facsimile (2026) comparison.

The most striking difference apart from the Alex Ross variant cover is 75p vs $19.99!

As a fan of superhero comics, every now & then, I'll read something another fan has written online and think "Christ, is this what I sound like to other people?"

To be fair to Shat, I would take the Transformed Man over this any day.

Leonard Nimoy once recorded the most plodding, lifeless, and dull cover of Proud Mary you will ever hear in your life.

I enjoyed this screenshot from the new Avengers trailer in which Scott Summers has glowing nostrils as well as glowing eyes, suggesting that he is about to fire concussive beams from his nose.

I like to imagine, for example, the Italians, or the French or really any other top tier food nation, watching the Americans and the British tear into each other over each other's cuisines with the same disgust as they would watch two mangy strays fighting in an alley over a decomposing rat carcass.

We are only 6 years away from the year that Homer Simpson finally allowed his son, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Bart Simpson, to watch the Itchy & Scratchy movie.

I'm so tired of the constantly escalating wickedness streaming from America into my brain every day. I'm so tired of seeing that stupid, smirking, gravy-stained bollock of a face.

Would love to know what specific steps Baroness Anderson and other members of our government have taken on X to provide a counter-narrative to the Nazis and the pornographic AI images of children and non-consenting adults.
Cabinet Office Minister Baroness Anderson tells the Lords the Government will keep on using X.

"I still believe that X is an appropriate platform to use because I believe in freedom of speech..."

"It is incredibly important that there is a counter narrative on those platforms," she says.

It's interesting though that the common fan argument of "how much of a screw-up should Peter Parker actually be" began with his creators.

It's become quite fashionable now to take "Stan Lee exaggerated his contribution to Marvel superheroes" & extend it to "Stan Lee contributed very little/nothing." But you only have to look at Steve Ditko's vision for Spider-Man to see a great example of how much Stan brought to these characters.
Jim Shooter’s blog post reinforces a lot about what we know about Steve Ditko’s views on flawed heroes and Spider-Man.

Finally got around to watching the last two episodes of Strange New Worlds after being put off by some very duff episodes. I'm really glad I came back to it, those last two episodes were really good.
I gotta say I'm finding it a bit exhausting how this series of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is alternating from episode to episode between engaging space adventures with characters that I want to hang out with all the time and the worst sitcom I've ever seen in my life.

...I used to think it was an insightful bit of self-deprecation, poking fun at that peculiarly male urge to make mix-tapes & recommend films to women. But it's not is it. I think that's just how relationships are for him.

People always point out the creepy "older man dates younger girl" thing in Woody Allen films. But for me the creepiest bit is how the older man always takes on the mentor role in the relationship, "educating" his young lover on books, music, & film...

When a character wakes up in the arms of their partner after what has presumably been a night of lovemaking, pulls on their trousers, and immediately goes to their job or whatever. Ychafi!
#FilmSky, a quick question; what is the pettiest thing you have had to be annoyed at a film? I ask because I am watching The Gift from 2000, and the main character does divination with Zener Cards, which are not the same thing as Tarot at all. Why go for a more boring looking option?
