Keep in mind. Trump isn’t giving all these ICE Agents directions individually. They are choosing to do this. Stealing money. Making girls stand in the rain in their underwear. That’s their choice. Because people who chose to be ICE Agents chose it for pain it causes.
Please highlight this story.

ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago.

'We're citizens!': Oklahoma City family traumatized after ICE raids home, but they weren't suspects
A woman says her family’s fresh start in Oklahoma turned into a nightmare after federal immigration agents raided their home, taking their phones, laptops, and life savings – even though they were …

Once upon a time you could drive downtown in the rain 9:30 on a Tuesday night just to check out the late night record shop. Don’t forget what they took from us.

the thing I hate most about that rfk quote is that autistic lives have value and worth and beauty and dignity whether they are able to do the things other people do or not. no one is defined by ability or lack thereof and to frame divergence as lack is monster stuff, utterly godless

let’s look back at what has happened so far

Cory Booker giving a 25 hour speech: everyone loved it, raised his profile

Van Hollen flies to El Salvador and meets Abrego Garcia: everyone loved it, raised his profile

Schumer publicly caved: everyone hated that

just a general note to Dems
i have no doubt that senator van hollen was genuinely concerned for the safety and welfare of abrego garcia BUT ALSO this is what i'm talking about when i say POLITICAL AMBITION. van hollen may well make himself a household name and nationally recognized political figure with this move

I started buying CD’s recently to rip for my plex server, and I think I’m a CD guy now. You can get like ten CD’s for $30. You’d be lucky to walk out of the store with three LP’s for that kind of money these days.

As a bald guy with a beard, do you think I could pull off a beret? Or would I look too pretentious? Would I be required to carry a copy of Howl on my person at all times or could I get away with just a Mary Oliver book?

I was saying this during Trump 1: abolish ICE, ban every agent from ever holding a law enforcement job ever again.
At this point I’m convinced that the entirety of ICE should be dismantled, and every agent blacklisted from law enforcement work for life.

This is just one story of casual evil, and new ones come out every day.

My number one issue for the 2028 Democratic Primary will be restricting the powers of the office of the President. Anyone who doesn’t have a plan for that won’t be getting my vote in the primary.
One man just wiped out $10 trillion in wealth, is destroying centuries-old legal protections, and seems determined to unravel humanity’s greatest public health achievement. In 3 months.

I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

Just so everybody understands, Booker has been speaking cogently about the issues the entire time and Strom Thurmond famously spent hours reading from the encyclopedia, because segregationists were and are dumbshits
If Sen. Cory Booker makes it to 7:19 p.m. EST, he will break segregationist Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond's record for his 24 hour 18 minute Senate floor speech against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

They are arresting people on the streets, terminating their visas, and disappearing them for writing things they disagree with. This is where we are. Two months in. Right now. If you think they won’t begin coming after citizens soon, you are mistaken.

Probably some selection bias here, I’d suspect conservatives are more likely to purchase books at a chain or from Amazon and liberals/leftists more likely to support an indie book store, but it’s still all good to hear.
being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:
