An absolute masterclass in exposing hypocrisy.

Stop what you are doing and give it your time.
State Rep @jamestalarico.bsky.social gives a master class in Republican hypocrisy 🔥

The Texas House passed the Ten Commandments bill in an 82-46 vote… on the Sabbath, breaking the Fourth Commandment in the process.

Upcoming installments include Reform running your local council into the ground and your local university going bust.
story of British politics for the past decade is people getting what they want and then fucking *hating* it
Irony is the Conservative Party ought to be joining Steve Baker, Dan Hannan in a victory lap. Conventional wisdom in 2016 was that an FTA with India and accession to CPTPP were pipe-dreams. They won!

You don't spend a fortune getting a criminal authoritarian elected, then repeatedly voice support for the furthest right party in every country - including Germany, then do a Nazi salute at the new President's inauguration without being a Nazi. He does not get the benefit of the doubt.

Absolutely you can argue with the nature of the reporting, but the world’s richest man who controls the most notable social media platform and has the ear of Trump deciding to go all in supporting the British far right is undoubtedly a major, lead news story and it’s stupid to pretend otherwise
The BBC needs to have a debate about whether Musk's outbursts should keep leading the news.

This isn't about censoring or suppressing his views; it's about whether to amplify them.

Most Brits aren't on X, they don't follow Musk & not every raving from a foreign plutocrat should set the news agenda

It's almost like if you build an out of town shopping mall with huge amounts of free parking, it encourages people to drive.

The Trafford Centre is actually very well connected public transport, with lots of buses and trams as well as for cycling.

A reminder that Sadiq Khan successfully won three elections in a row by large majorities against Conservative opponents, one of whom, Shaun Bailey, was then given a seat in the House of Lords for life.

Funnily enough I don't remember the Daily Mail describing that as a "reward for failure"

Car bloat is a disease – and it’s spreading.

Here are a few of the stories I wrote in 2024 about dangerously huge vehicles. 🧵

This year GM killed the Chevy Malibu, the last sedan available to Americans from the Big Three. 4/5 new US cars are SUVs or pickups.

Detroit killed the sedan. We may all live to regret it
GM ending production of the Chevy Malibu underscores that the Big Three are done with sedans. But consumers may not flock to expensive SUVs in response.

I am very sad to learn belatedly of the death of Jeremy Seabrook. Met him a couple of times and saw him speak too. He came up with one of the best quotes I ever heard. "Working class people are only nostalgic because they're always having things taken away from them." RIP to a proud polemicist.
Jeremy Seabrook was one of Northampton’s radical working-class writers, along with Ray Gosling. A line that seems to have ended with Alan Moore.

As gloriously baffling a programme as Bullseye generally is, it really is quite touching when Jim Bowen tells unemployed contestants "sorry to hear that son, you never know, things might start looking up again soon" and very clearly means it. The other side of The Eighties there.
