MY HEART. What an adorable little cutie. Otters are the best.
Otterly adorable news! Pintar, our four-year-old Asian small-clawed otter, gave birth to a healthy pup on November 18. Pintar and Sebastian are first-time parents and are doing exceptionally well, keeping the fuzzy male pup safe and cozy behind the scenes.

A nice way to tidy up this mess is to stop giving them jurisdiction within "100 miles of the border" and claiming the beach and the airport count. So much work needs to be done to make sure scenes like this never happen again.

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

I was going to do a long rant about the USA Today ICE puff piece today but it's so shallowly written and so predictable ("we need the money!" "we're just enforcing the law!" "we wear masks to protect our familiy!") that it's not even worth it. No introspection and no analysis. Just a sob story.

During The Bad Batch, some guy in cargo shorts and a fanny pack screamed when Suki Waterhouse has her arm cut off, then stormed out during the scene Jason Mamoa is carving someone up for dinner, yelling YOU'RE SICK, THIS MOVIE IS SICK, YOU'RE ALL SICK.

I actually liked that movie!
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

One theory I have is that competence, self-control, responsibility, and expertise have all been feminized, leaving “masculinity” with the realm of impulsivity and petulance. So the divide is not really between “femininity” and “masculinity” so much as between adulthood and childishness.
Everything else aside, the idea that this is a model for many men of *masculinity* is so wild. This? This is "manly"? This is how people think it's cool to act?

"Curb their power" means confiscating their unearned fortunes, of course.
Elon Musk is worse at hiding it but this is the problem with all billionaires: they are a threat to democratic governance. They have an insatiable need to own and control everything. If you want to be free you have to curb their power, and demand political leaders who understand that
Elon Musk is against the European Union being the European Union —he posted this after X (fka Twitter) was fined for violations of the EU’s Digital Services Act.

Which is a stupid law. The USPS isn't a private business, it's a government service that serves the entire country. $9bn is a rounding error when it comes to funding something so important.
USPS is required by law to try to break even. It generally doesn’t take taxpayer dollars to fund operations.

That’s what makes this a monumental gamble from Steiner.

Amazon is USPS’s largest client — by far. And he’s letting them walk out the door, and even become a top competitor.
