I wrote about this moment. You can skip to the end if you just want a list of ways to help. If you want, you can also read about the time I almost died, was in ICU, and a nurse was my light in the darkness www.moryan.com/the-crack-in... 💚
The crack in the dam and intensive care (plus ways to help now)
When I was 19, I got very sick. I had pneumonia that wouldn’t go away. I was kept in an isolation room in a Chicago area hospital for weeks. My mom, a former nurse who never took any shit, determined ...

One thing I found deeply moving about resistance in the Twin Cities was the universalism of loving your neighbor, the philosophy driving the opposition to the ICE/BP invasion. I couldn't help but notice the contrast with the blood and soil-ism of Miller and Vance. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Various presidents have invoked the Insurrection Act. A few, like Trump, have threatened to do it. But none but Trump have been both so casual about it and so ignorant about what it does. An explainer from me. #insurrectionact

Fascinating article and the experience he describes of being a standardized patient is a great opener to the inner workings of health care in the US. I would have liked to hear from primary care residents or practicing physicians as well. We have our own frustrations and are very much aware of...
Every few weeks, David H. Freedman puts on a hospital gown and describes a set of symptoms that he doesn’t really have. The fakery reveals what the U.S. medical system isn’t doing for its patients:

Medical schools are training students in a form of care that the system can’t—or won’t—provide.
