I was assigned a review of 'Blackstar' and could only hear the album at an in-person listening session (not uncommon).

It was me (26 at the time), Jon Pareles, and a studio engineer listening to the album in a control room at Electric Lady. Probably the most intimidating hour of my life!
10 years ago today, David Bowie released his 'Lazarus' single digitally in 2015.

I met Melissa Hortman in October of 2024. She was smart and kind. I heard about her murder in a LA hotel room and it dropped me to my knees. So I went to Minnesota and talked to her kids, parents, and friends. This is not true crime, this is Melissa in real life. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Such a cool and inspiring story
"This is Charlotte Astor’s fantasy, her obsession: to unearth a single piece of recorded music lost to time. To finally hear the thrashing guitar, the crunch of the bass — and the sound of her mother’s voice."

Lost cassette tape connects N.J. girl to her mom's punk legacy. She's got the whole country looking for it.
