I just had a flashback seeing Zach and Joey's names together but my mind could not compute the grey hair.

This looks exactly like a guy who used to date my downstairs neighbor in Toronto and also he was in a moderately famous band.

That seems to be part of it but the whole farm seems to have been a way to grift investors too. I'd wager there's even more sketchy stuff going on there than just beating up elderly neighbors. (They also tried to claim First Nations support they don't have).

I don't really do this myself, but I do think that this is fair. The obsession people have with deleted posts, when someone deletes instantly (thereby demonstrating their non-support for what they had written) is really unhealthy.
If you delete a post after less than 60 seconds, legally it never happened.

Who in the fuck cares that a random rich American has said anything about this? Why is this in the headline? Why is this *leading* the headine?

I mostly dislike having a cat but when I hear something chewing at something under your desk, it feels pretty great to throw the cat into the fray.

If we add up the government's rhetoric on this, we need to hire 400,000 more people for the CAF, except 300,000 will just be teaching civil servants how to fire guns. So which department will be relocated to Iqaluit? CRA? Service Canada? IRCC?

Thinking of how in Canada, the Liberals gave money to Canadian pasta producers to be able to compete with Italian imports, which I thought was a good example of how free trade is a dead end.
Trump trade war costs US Italian pasta: “Exporters say import and antidumping duties totaling 107% on their pasta brands will make doing business in America too costly and are preparing to pull out of U.S. stores as soon as January.” Via WSJ

I had a kid insist on a jacket free wall home from camp yesterday while the other got frostbite.
the first snowfall also marks the first day that the tween species begin their courageous jacket free walks to school. Godspeed.

As an indie podcaster since 2016 with a day job, I found a lot of this discussion about the stark realities of making a podcast in Canada rather relatable (if not triggering 😏).
This week on The North State, I’ve got budgets on the mind. Not the federal budget, but how the hell independent journalists get paid. I sat down with @arshy.bsky.social of The Hatchet and then @nicolefroio.bsky.social of @theflytrapmedia.com to get the ins and outs of paying for news. #cdnnews

The news that Lethbridge police got away with stalking, harassing and threatening Phillips because the chance of conviction was too low is an indictment of the entire justice system in Alberta.

St. Thomas was like this too. Family farm was in Port Stanley and I used to love going into St. Thomas and cycle around - convenience stores, used bookstores, record stores, coffee shops, you name it, all over. I noticed one of the last neighbourhood convenience stores closed 5 years ago.

Meat prices are crazy, meanwhile you can eat really well on legumes and other grains along with vegetables.

Our store has 20 feet of a fish counter fully stocked and I rarely see anyone buy anything and the fish looks pretty sad.

The produce section at the grocery store is always packed. Then they cram a farmer's market stand in there so you can't easily move around. And the enormous section dedicated to meat? Virtually empty.
