It's a bit wild to me that everyone has been so incredibly indoctrinated by techbros (and just the fomo created by advertising) to think the goal of social media is some kind of monopoly on everyone's attention by one big corporation. I mean, plenty of people just don't use social media at all 🙅‍♀️

Under Trump, the USDA *wildly* underestimated the amount of corn that was harvested by US farmers in 2025.

This has been attributed by experts to be a direct result of massive staffing cuts.

Personally I find Bsky a great resource for people who think critically and rationally about AI (though I followed many of these people elsewhere before) because there are lots of academics here, not just company men. Also, corporate culture is never about what's useful, it's about what's profitable
