one of my earlier memories was being crazy for luge and then furiously despondent to find out there was no, like, local mini-golf style amateur luge range for me to do it myself because america has always been a failed state.

I missed when this spelling became the norm, but it's better than the borrowed French.
You can also sometimes find CPR manikins on pretty decent discount (like 200-300 bucks) on eBay.
Higher fidelity manikins are orders of magnitude more expensive than that, but the basic CPR manikins can be found at relatively reasonable prices
