If you're having chronic shoulder pain, just go on a trip where you don't have to sit at a laptop for a few days, and voila! Pain gone.

I can't believe there are people who have the energy to get up in the morning and start doing things and keep doing things all day. WTF sounds fake.

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

Must read for the book world from @defector.com and something I would have cited the hell out of in Art of Libromancy if it'd been out before I wrote it. tl;dr: Publishing is always ideological, especially when we claim it's not.
Good Riddance To ‘The Best American Poetry’ | Defector
When David Lehman, a poet then working as a book critic for Newsweek, proposed the project for The Best American Poetry anthology, he was searching for a national platform. His first anthology project...

Well, @sarahkendzior.bsky.social knew what was up and has been saying so for years. Those of us who listened to her are not surprised.
This. This administration is even worse than any of us thought possible. Who had destroy NIH, CDC, USAID, EPA, scientific research all at the same time on their bingo card?
My thesis is that no matter how doomer you were in Nov. 2024, we're probably past your worst-case scenario for the first 9 months of this administration.

It's very strange for me to realize I wasn't pessimistic enough.

I know I am ridiculously old to be talking about video games, but there is still nothing better than Moss to play on the VR and I dearly long for a third one because I've played the first two so many times, and all the other games I try don't even come close.

I called Premera Blue Cross because of an EOB that looked wonky and they were extremely nice and helpful and I didn't have to wait on hold for even a minute and my entire world view has just been completey turned upside down.

I am always astonished by how many of my fellow OlyPen residents are afraid of Seattle. Kids that grew up here not wanting to go to UW because of the scary city. SO glad my own kiddo was born and had several years in Seattle before we moved here.
the amount of raw, unadulterated fear that many Americans have of even small cities is never going to stop being darkly hilarious to me

Just a reminder that mifepristone is incredibly safe and has been approved by the FDA for a quarter of a century. You can purchase medication abortion (mifepristone and misoprostol) online and have it shipped to your home through @aidaccess.bsky.social. Mifepristone has a shelf life of 5 years.
