Food, beer, unsuccessful sports teams, even less successful political movements. Giving a shit since 1969, and paying the price for it in depression, anxiety and unhealthy coping mechanisms.
For Christ's sake this year can fuck off. Now I'm agreeing with Chris Patten of all people. How far the Overton window has moved that he's now on the right (i.e. not the right-wing) side on this issue.
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

Lucky they could buy up a few lame duck Democrats to get their stock moving in the right direction, eh? Truly US politics is off the scale when it comes to literally sacrificing the people for the sake of capitalism. My heart aches for my American friends.

Would love it if they appointed Jeremy Corbyn next.
the right winger who was appointed to lead the BBC in the hope of appeasing right wingers has been driven out by right wingers for not appeasing right wingers enough and the BBC has the chance to do the funniest thing ever

@robinince.bsky.social So surreal that the person desperate to force you to accept their reality, which they clearly believe is rigidly evidence based, then says they will pray for you. So vast is their certainty that they are right about everything. Theirs must be a peculiar existence.

Oh look. Evidence. Any chance that will influence the debates on traffic & urban planning in the UK any time soon? No? Just keep building car parks I guess.
Getting to see some of this amazing downtown Vancouver bike infrastructure for myself. It's wonderful!
It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.
Safe bike-lanes mean business.

It was kind of sad watching the Leicester & Norwich game with both sets of fans intensely frustrated by their respective club ownership and management. Two "big clubs" underperforming for a lengthy period thanks to poor strategic leadership.

A fun question. In 5 years time, what looks better? The US’s enormous bet & capex on AI? Or China’s equally enormous bet and capex on renewables?

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

I'm very disappointed in Marti being quoted last night saying he told the players that they deserved three points because it was glaringly untrue.
A luckily awarded penalty taken badly gave us an undeserved lead, and a negative attitude all second half resulted in the inevitable.

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

How the fuck am I balling my eyes out at a video made by someone running for local government in a country thousands of miles away; someone I will never meet, never speak to, never vote for? How has this campaign come to mean so much? And how is he this fucking good?

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I know it's a lot of pressure to put on one person, but right now I feel like tomorrow's election for New York mayor could determine the next ten years or so of global politics.
