“It’s not okay when billionaires and presidents do it, but it’s also not okay when your uncle Greg does it, or when the guy at the gas station does it, and no, it’s not okay when women do it… There are no unimportant assaults, and no unimportant victims, and that’s the point.” @judedoyle.bsky.social

I wrote about how the women Epstein and co victimized have been minimized and ignored as individuals even in popular discourse about the very abuse they endured—and how the legal system has punished them and other women, not helped them, for daring to come forward.

Even the most famous victims are silenced
From the Epstein files to Amber Heard, we obsess over victims while denying their own right to speak.

Other outlets had reported some of the allegations against former PPSE interim CEO Mairo Akposé, but @susanrinkunas.com uncovered new details, including that Akposé wanted to halt abortions. PPSE's board had cleared Akposé of wrongdoing, but she stepped down not long after we published this story 👀
NEW: Six former employees of the embattled Planned Parenthood Southeast affiliate filed EEOC complaints alleging retaliation and discrimination in their firings. (EEOC complaints required before lawsuits)

The interests of investigative journalism and the interests of rapacious capitalists are diametrically opposed, I think, but billionaires used to at least pretend that they liked to serve the public interest in meaningful ways.

The "benevolent billionaire" model of journalism is dead. Solidarity with everyone at the Post who's lost their job because a man worth $239,000,000,000 belatedly realized that accountability journalism doesn't always make Number Go Up.

Jeannie Lin's Harlequin Historicals and HQNs are some of the best romances there are. Harlequin's always done their authors dirty, never promoting brilliant works, letting category titles languish. It fucking sucks to see them fold the line when they had the means to bolster it YEARS ago.

I know I’m not the first to say this, but the way people are treating the Epstein files like a meme is so triggering and disrespectful.

I have been doing investigative reporting on misconduct for years & it got harder and harder to do over time. Of course I blamed myself to an extent. But yeah, anyway, the plutocratic class & their minions destroyed the media & what remained formed up like Voltron to protect the worst of the worst.
To give u an idea of how powerful men protect each other, remember Moira Donegan's "Shitty Men in Media" list? Here are former Paris Review Editor Lorin Stein (who got fired for being named), Michael Wolff, & Epstein discussing backing Stephen Eliott to supress MeToo
