NEW RESULT: Democrats have flipped a state Senate in Iowa.

This was a seat Trump carried by 11%, but Democratic nominee Catherine Drey has just won it by 10.4%.

This is the second legislative flip by Dems in Iowa this year. It also means the GOP loses its supermajority in Iowa’s senate.

I made a promise to the women of Illinois — as governor, I will ensure your medical decisions will be your own.

Now, we continue fulfilling that promise.

Public colleges will now provide contraception and medication abortion at on-campus pharmacies and student health centers.

there's an enormous amount of magical thinking going on with these private companies who think they're going to profit from selling the same services they sell today but without any of the raw data and material they've been freely taking advantage of for years

So, liberal parents who can ground their beliefs in religion (many do) can opt out of:

- abstinence only education
- Baby Olivia videos
- reading Ayn Rand
- any class that talks about Donald Trump or this Supreme Court

This is going to be fun.

(And by "fun" I mean "utter and complete nonsense").

In the midst of daily debates over whether the president needs to follow the laws and court orders, it's absolutely wild to me that everyone's just like, "So it goes! Let's pretend that law says something totally different."

MILLIONS of us

There are millions of us who still believe in the light of democracy. We demand our human rights and American freedoms be preserved, and an end to rule by thugs and criminals
Millions marched in cities and towns across the U.S. in "No Kings" protests against the Trump administration just hours before Trump's military parade.

Part of the reason I like corporate pride displays is because it is humiliating to the reactionaries. It is good in the same way the Nazi flag flying over the Eiffel Tower was bad.

The rainbow flag draped over a bridge is the symbol of our imperium of liberty. The bigot must forever live under it.

Here, have some genuinely great news: In a unanimous decision, SCOTUS rules in favour of disability protections, and a reasonably low standard of proof for disability-based discrimination.
Good new news from me at @motherjones.com: The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that families no longer have to prove that schools acted in "bad faith or gross misjudgment" in any circuit when suing for disability discrimination. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
SCOTUS' conservative majority delivers a pro–disability rights ruling
Families won't have to prove bad faith to sue for disability discrimination in schools.

The House just passed its budget resolution, so reconciliation is now officially underway. This is their bill to destroy Medicaid and SNAP while cutting taxes disproportionately for the rich.

THIS IS VERY REAL and can be enacted even if all Ds vote no.

Thread on what's to come and WHERE TO FIGHT.
