I need more people to understand this, the level of pathologisation trans people face to access care.

A reminder the WHO declassified being trans as a mental health issue 6 years ago.
Cis people, how many times have you been asked to describe how you masturbate, and what you think about when you do, to access healthcare on the NHS?

The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

Starmer’s anti-asylum policies show how utterly clueless he is about the right-wing media’s role in politics.

He’s trying to fix a “problem” contrived by Farage, GB News and The Telegraph. He’ll never win, because ultimately he’s fighting a ghost – he’s fighting something that doesn’t really exist

The government should be ashamed that its migration policies are being cheered on by Tommy Robinson and Reform.

Instead of standing up to anti-migrant hate, this is laying the foundations for the far-right.

I questioned the Home Secretary on how she can be proposing such obviously cruel policies.

Statutory definition of "family" to be introduced. Even though human rights law refuses strictly to define and limit family, in recognition of the infinite variety of human existence and the possibility of change over time. Might not seem important or have much real-world impact but this is Bad.

Oh cool, indentured servitude. Legally recognised throughout the democratic world as a form of unfree labour aka slavery. Also literally how the people traffickers that this legislation is supposedly meant to stop imprison their victims.
Watching the Mahmood announcement and debate. Tory backbencher (Karen Bradley) suggests putting refugees into debt and making them repay during the rest of their lives. Mahmood says she’ll think about it.

Without asylum:

Marks and Spencer wouldn't exist

Queen would have been without a front man

The other queen wouldn't have had a husband

Judith Kerr would never have written The Tiger Who Came to Tea

And thousands of less famous people wouldn't have been teachers, politicians, neighbours, etc

The Labour Government reeling off the same far-right talking points on immigration. And look who is celebrating. The far-right.

There is a political alternative that won’t ever scapegoat those fleeing war, persecution and torture

When, inevitably, Labour's latest round of dog whistle anti-asylum measures don't appease the far right enough, exactly how far will those defending them today stomach it before they twig that the only way to beat the likes of Reform is to counter their messaging, not reinforce it?

Recently I talked to a woman who had been raped about cross examination. She went into a catatonic state for 15 mins, then asked me to hold her hand, and then began to cry. We discussed whether she should refuse to give evidence - even though it would mean he got off.

And now this 👇🏻

Let’s take a look at the whole “there are too many black people on TV” thing, shall we?

After Pochin claimed Black people in TV adverts “made her mad”, all her supporters tried to use 👇🏼 as their excuse for why she was somehow justified in her overt racism.

Spoiler - she isn’t! 🤨

The NHS is changing trans people back to birth sex on file, meaning we will not be treated appropriately for our bodies.

This is deadly, completely unacceptable, and the result of hateful far right ideology in our politics and healthcare.
Just got a call from a lovely but very nervous Dr, who advised I wouldn't be routinely screened for breast cancer because I'm not indicated as being "biologically female" on the central NHS database and my biology wouldn't indicate I'm at risk.

My records have been altered, which is upsetting.

UNRWA has enough food in warehouses in Jordan and Egypt to supply the entire population of #Gaza for three months.

And enough shelter supplies to reach up to 1.3 million people.

We must be allowed to get all this aid into Gaza without delay.

This is what people need.

While at the same time, the Labour government continues to arm that genocide

Politics in this country is like watching someone feed themselves to a shark

Lowering themselves slowly into its jaws while patronisingly lecturing weeping onlookers about why the shark will now go away
This is first time I’ve heard the govt making the Labour argument for controlling immigration.

Mahmood argues that controlling our borders is good for race relations, because uncontrolled immigration is feeding far right rhetoric and tensions.

Expect to hear a lot more of that.

Everyone: What's government doing about the cost of living crisis, the climate crisis, and the unfolding genocide in Gaza?

Labour: "We will mandate people carry Brit cards".

This government's priorities are painfully out of touch and increasingly authoritarian.

Unless the government introduces PR, there will be a far right government in power in 2029. And like the compliant liberals they always were, the Labour party are building the administrative tools to help those fascists round you and your friends up for deportation. Frightening.
