Sometimes I have problems teaching English and books because on a visceral, fundamental, truly-at-my-core level I just can't understand not loving reading. I've read boring books before but *reading* isn't boring. And I can't always get past that in my head to reach the students who think it is.

My parents had an old, faded cartoon on the wall my entire childhood: two scenes exactly the same, one 'heaven' and one 'hell,' and each had people sitting around a soup pot with super long-handled spoons, too long to reach their mouths. The difference? In heaven they had learned to feed each other.

Made coffee at work and ten minutes later went to get some and discovered that I had added coffee but not water.
You'd think that this was just a symptom of needing coffee to make coffee but no, I had already consumed two cups at home, so really I have no excuse except that it's Thursday.
