Point about PLURIBUS: that language about seeing a person drowning is *very* close to how evangelical Christians describe evangelism. I wonder how that plays into the show’s themes.

Nabokov: "In by book, I wrote about the treatment of Lolita as an examination of human cruelty and selfishness"
Pedophiles: "At long last, we have created Lolita from the classic novel It's Really Bad To Sexually Assault Lolita"
my new theory is that Jeffrey Epstein read Lolita, actually understood it, and killed himself.
did not have Harvard English professor Elisa New emailing Jeffrey Epstein about Lolita on my 2025 bingo card

I don’t think Donald Trump actually gave Bill Clinton a blowjob, but I absolutely believe he should be asked about it constantly.

PLURIBUS reminds me of THE PRISONER in some respects, most notably in that the protagonist’s stubborn insistence on not being part of the group is allowed to be awkward and angry instead of simply righteous.

When people trot out "nepo baby" as an ad hominem to dismiss creatives, they're not... wrong but they're kind of missing the point. I think you'd be hard pressed to find any successful writer, director, actor, producer, animation artist, musician, etc. who didn't have some access to wealth-

Tonight’s middle-aged-man-learns-to-adult experiment is ragu. I usually make my sauces quick and dirty, so this is a nice, leisurely experience.

Even funnier the Ken Starr does show up in the emails
Very funny development that Bill Clinton is not only not implicated in the emails, Epstein explicitly says “nah he was never on the island”. Slick Willie lives again

Chat, is it good when you’re being ruled by an increasingly senile monster, so depraved he’s described by his pal, Jeffrey “Child Molester” Epstein, as “evil beyond belief”?

Why again did the NYT sit on all of this?
Wow.

Jeffrey Epstein writing about Trump in 2018:

"He feels alone and is nuts!!! I told everyone from day one. Evil beyond belief. Mad, and most thought I was speaking metaphorically. It's obvious he could crack. Stormy Daniels? Lies after lies after lies."

Somewhere Gore Vidal is shrugging and muttering “The twelve Caesars were, after all, a fairly representative lot” (from his essay “The Twelve Caesars”)
I do think we all owe a tremendous apology to Suetonius in general.

Pizzagate: If you replace the word “hot dog” with “little boy” and “pizza party” with “child sex orgy,” you will see the lengths these elites go to cover up their crimes.

Real elite emails: Send me nude pictures of those 8th graders we abused last weekend post-haste! I am the Ambassador to Turkey.

6) Sword & Sorcery is not a unique American literary form, but...

...we did invent it, & it did start in the US for various historiographical reasons. Hardboiled fantasy in the Robert E. Howard/C. L. Moore/Clifford Ball/Henry Kuttner/Fritz Leiber mode was a counterpoint to William Morris & Tolkien.

That was how I understood it, too. It was at least implied that it being a "New Bond Universe" was behind picking CR as the first film.

This makes no sense to me. Just…make a new movie. The Craig era was always its own thing and audiences are smart enough to know that whatever the new Bond is is separate from that.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."
