Chicago, gardening, quilting, corn dogs, community. Crunch crunch ✨
personally thrilled at the slim possibility of a Bills/Bears because even though I don't care about football, 1) Bills Mafia is my birthright, 2) Bears football is also my birthright, and 3) I got into sports betting with free money as a bit last year and i have bets riding on both teams winning 🤡

Everybody should watch this and see this woman, who has a baby in her arms and is thrust into basically a standoff, develop courage in real time.
From the minnesota community on Reddit: ST. PAUL, MN: A sobbing resident calls 911 as federal agents force their way into her home to chase down a DoorDash driver who was just trying to deliver food.

first of all being a hater has gotten me so many friends. secondly, the newly common idea that venting means one friend bellyaching and the other being drained of their life force ignores the ideal, superior form of venting: mutual venting! sometimes we are mad together, nothing more energizing <3

a truly inconsequential pet peeve: We've swung real hard in the direction of soft-sounding baby names these days. Emma? Sophia? Liam?! Did we run out of T's and K's? Truly, these are nice names but where is the phonetic diversity!

if paul vallas was mayor right now the trib editorial board would make him mayor for life, instead they get mad whenever johnson mentions this
These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

Obviously it’s way too early for 2028 polling to mean much. But also, now is the time to start poisoning the well against Newsom for your boomer parents who think his troll posts against Trump are really funny
California - Democratic Presidential Polling:

Newsom: 36%
Buttigieg: 16%
AOC: 13%
Harris: 9%
Pritzker: 4%
Shapiro: 3%
Whitmer: 2%
Beshear: 2%
Booker: 2%
Klobuchar: 1%

Americans don’t deserve for Donald Trump to have been elected President, but every once in a while we get a little reminder that everyone he beat to get there absolutely, 100000% deserved to lose. Goes a long way to explaining how he won despite his manifest unfitness.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

I’m not going to accept this anymore than I think we should accept the racial or class makeup of prison guards as a reason to defend prisons.

I’m on record enough about my alliance with poor people and I believe that a more powerful surveillance state harms them uniquely and necessarily.
